Adding waves can be fun if you have a straight weave. If you want to do this without damaging your weave, put your hair in flexi-rod curlers or braids overnight. If you want a quick solution, braid your hair and heat it with a flat iron.
Step 1: You should separate your hair in half.
You can split your hair with a comb.Pull one section to the side to separate it.Pin up the top half of the remaining section.
Step 2: The curling iron should be set to a medium heat.
Synthetic weaves are strong enough to handle heat up to 325 F.Before trying heat on synthetic hair weaves, read the label for directions.
Step 3: Wrap hair around a curling iron for a minute.
You can get a small section of hair by grasping it with your fingers. The curling iron should be 1–2 inches down from the top of the hair.Wrap your hair around and hold it up for a minute. You can use a wide barrel curling iron for loose waves.A small barrel curling iron can be used for tighter waves. If you want a natural wavy look, use a large barrel and small barrel curling iron.
Step 4: There is hair sticking out at the bottom of the first one.
Re-position the curling iron underneath the first curl.Wrap your hair around the curling iron and hold it for a minute. As you do this, leave the bottom of your hair out of the curling iron.Curling the bottom will result in a more polished, curly look while leaving the hair out will create a wave style.
Step 5: You should repeat this process for the rest of your hair.
To continue styling, remove the clips from your hair.If you want your hair to be wavy, Curl each strand of hair in 2 parts. If your hair is tight, run your fingers through it to loosen it.
Step 6: Use a wide tooth comb to remove tangles from your weave.
Pull the wide tooth comb through the weave. When you reach a mat or knot, hold your weave above it with your free hand.To avoid damaging the weave, run the comb through the tangle firmly. You can use your fingers to comb through the weave.
Step 7: Use a spray bottle full of water to damp your weave.
If you style it while it is damp, it will hold a wave more easily and adhere better to the flexi-rod.Water can be misted over the surface of your weave.Don't apply more than 1-2 sprays for each part of your hair.During the night wet hair can be damaged more easily.
Step 8: You should not put styling products in your weave.
Product build up on your weave will shorten its life span. When styling it, don't use styling cream, spray, gel, oil, or mousse.Don't apply oil to the weave below if your hair is dry.
Step 9: Divide your hair into sections.
To split your hair, use your fingers.Depending on how thick your hair weave is, make 2 to 3 sections. The other sections should be pinned to the side.
Step 10: It's a good idea to coil your hair around the curlers.
Place your fingers on the bottom of your hair.Wrap the hair around the curler with your other hand.Make sure the hair wraps around the flexi-rods.
Step 11: bend the flexi-rod upwards.
To hold the hair in place, twist the bottom of the rod upwards. The flexi-rod needs to be positioned in a way that will allow you to sleep comfortably.Take the flexi-rod and start over.If you want to do it again, unpin the rest of your hair.
Step 12: You can cover your weave with a bonnet or scarf.
While the wave sets in the night you should cover your weave to protect it from damage while you sleep.Put a silk bonnet or silk scarp on your head. The material will help keep your weave shiny and smooth. If you apply your silk scarf or bonnet too tightly, it will ruin your hair style and cause your head to sweat.
Step 13: In the morning, gently remove the flexi-rods.
Remove your scarf or bonnet when you wake up.Don't twist your hair from the flexi-rods.To smooth your waves, run your fingers through your weave. When you remove the flexi-rods, your weave should be dry.Continue to dry it with a blow dryer if it's not.The waves won't last if you take out the flexi-rods while your hair is wet.
Step 14: Divide your hair into two sections.
You can split your hair down the middle with your fingers. To separate them, pull each section to the side. You can start styling the hair on the other side if you secure it with a clip.
Step 15: braid a wide section of hair
There is a wide section of weave hair that needs to be split into 3 smaller parts. It needs to be braided down to the end.Attach the bottom with a small elastic or clip.To make a smooth braid, run a comb through the hair.
Step 16: If you want to lock in the wave quickly, run a flat iron over the hair and heat it.
Put your iron in a low or medium heat. The iron should be dragged from top to bottom. The weave can be damaged if the heat is held on one section for too long.If you want the best results, use a ceramic flat iron.
Step 17: Allow the rest of your hair to sit for 15 minutes.
For the rest of the hair you sectioned off, repeat the braiding and heating process.Allow the braids to sit for 15 minutes. The wave time will be given by this.Start the process again on the other half of your weave when you let the braids sit.
Step 18: You can reveal the waves by undoing your braids.
The clips or elastics should be removed from the bottom of your braids.Pull the braids with your fingers. You can smooth the waves with your fingers.
Step 19: As an alternative to using heat, leave the braids in overnight.
Take the entire surface of your hair and braid it.The wave will set if the braids are left in overnight. If you want to see the waves in the morning, comb through your hair with your fingers. If you want to protect your weave from overnight damage, place a silk bonnet or scarf over it or use a pillowcase.A spray bottle can be used to help set the waves.
