You never know when you need a blade for protection. When a tricky situation gets out of hand, the best place to hide one is along your forearm. You'll learn how to make a hidden blade that you can flick out with a twitch of your finger.
Step 1: Take your parts and tools.
You're going to need to go to the hardware store to get the right parts and tools for this hidden blade.Depending on where you live, you can get these parts for between 35 and 40 dollars. The hidden blade parts are a 14-inch drawer slide. The slide is supposed to fit in the middle of the drawer. This is the case for the hidden blade. The 2 extension springs have a work weight of 8.46 pounds. The springs should be thick and fat.A pack of flatheadPhillips screws with nuts.A key ring can slip on your finger. There is a fishing line. You don't want to be able to see it against your hand.A piece of metal.A piece of cardboard. There is industrial strength.A piece of leather.A pair of pliers is what you'll need.A tool.A drill.Scissors.There is a metal file. There are some WD-40s.
Step 2: Remove the drawer slide.
There are three tiers to the drawer slide. If you want to remove the top tier from the slide, you have to bend the metal tab at the end of the large bottom tier and slide out the middle tier, which has a ball bearing track inside it.You don't need the top and bottom tiers for the rest of the project.Extra ball bearings will also be included. You might need replacements if you lose parts as you go along.
Step 3: The middle tier has a ball bearing track.
Make sure to save it by popping off the tab or cap at the end of the tier.Make sure to remove the ball bearing track.
Step 4: You should cut the tier to the length of your arm.
Hold your arm in front of you, with your elbow bent. The end of the tier rests at your wrist. The tier should end a few inches from your elbow crease if you decide how long you'll need to take off.The end of the tier that does not have a cap should be cut with the dremel. You shouldn't cut off the end of the tier if you want to remove the ball bearing track. You need to be able to replace that piece. After you make the cut, use the metal file to file down any sharp edges.Don't cut the metal without taking safety precautions.Work in an appropriate workspace and wear safety goggles.
Step 5: The tier's edges need to be pinched.
The two ends of the tier on the side that does not have a cap can be bent with the pliers. The ball bearing track can fall out when you slide it back in.
Step 6: Take out the center of the tier.
The piece of metal was cut from the center of the tier. You should leave an inch of metal at the pinched end of the tier and not cut out the area where the cap will be reattached. To file the sharp edges on the tier, you have to discard the rectangular piece you cut out.
Step 7: The ball bearing track needs to be cut.
You need to cut it so that you have a row of three. The ball bearing track can be shortened with a straight cut. There should be 6 ball bearings on each side of the shortened track. You can cut the ball bearing track down to four openings if your tier is on the longer side and you can fit a longer track inside.Since it needs at least 3 openings to work properly, don't cut it shorter than 3.
Step 8: There are holes in the ball bearing track.
Two holes can be created in the track by using the drill.Make sure the holes are big enough to hold the screws.
Step 9: The tier tab has a hole in it.
Take the plastic tab that was removed from the middle tier. The holes on the ball bearing track are different sizes. When it's time to put the contraption together, you need to be able to attach it to the track.
Step 10: A tester blade is needed.
If you want the blade to fit in the ball bearing track, you have to cut a length of cardboard. The end of the blade should be in line with the track. You can make two holes in the cardboard by drilling into it.
Step 11: The blade should be cut.
There are two holes in the middle of the cardboard blade cutout.Attach the blade shape to the metal with two holes in the middle.
Step 12: The screws need to be cut down.
You'll need to cut the screws down by half using the dremel.
Step 13: The blade needs to be fastened to the ball bearing track.
Place the ball bearing track upside down on your table, so that the ridge parts are facing down and the flat side is up.Put the blade on top of the ball bearing track to align the screw holes.Keep the screws in place with the nuts by threading them through the holes.
Step 14: Put the ball bearing track in the middle tier.
The blade should point toward the pinched end of the tier.Make sure the ball bearings are in the correct place when sliding the track.
Step 15: The black cap needs to be replaced with a spring.
The blade has two screws on it.Attach the black cap with a nut after replacing it.This will hold the contraption together.
Step 16: Attach the fishing line.
Lay the tier against your forearm and cut a length of fishing line that extends from the second screw on the blade to your middle finger.Make sure it's long enough to wrap around your finger while your hand is in a fist, and add a little extra to make sure you can tie it around a key ring.If you want the line to stay in place, you have to tie one end over the second screw and the other around a key ring. The fishing line should be cut to the correct length. If it's too loose, it won't work. The line should be snug if the ring is around your middle finger. The blade should be pulled out when you open your hand.If the blade moves easily along the track, move the line back and forth.
Step 17: Attach the strips to the tier.
Cut two pieces.Attach two pieces to the underside of the track, one on the other side. The plastic tab piece should not be attached to the velcro.
Step 18: You can make belt straps.
Wrap the belt around your wrist or forearm with one of the strips.Attach the pieces to the insides of the straps so that they fit around your wrist and forearm.
Step 19: Attach the straps to the blade.
Attach the tier to the belt straps by removing the backing from the tiers. The blade point should be directed away from your body if you position it correctly.
Step 20: The blade should be put on.
Attach the belt to the underside of your forearm and you're good to go.You can make a fist with your hand if you put the keyring around your middle finger. The blade should be hidden under the shirt. It needs to be positioned so that it won't cut you.
Step 21: The blade needs to be discharged.
Point your arm away from your body. The fishing line will trip the blade if it is pulled by the keyring. The blade will come off when you let go of the key.
