The comic book and movie versions of "The Mask" deal with a mask that gives its wearer the power to warp reality at the expense of their minds. The mask in the comic book was made of jade, but the movie mask looked like wood. While you won't be able to spin around like a tornado, you can still make your own version of the mask from the movie. You can follow the steps below.
Step 1: Take a look at your face.
You need to know the distances from your head to your chin, from ear to ear, and from nose to nose.
Step 2: The shape of the mask can be drawn on a piece of corrugated cardboard.
There are places for eyeholes and a mouth hole in the shape of the mask. You can find a reference picture of the mask online. To fit your nose into the mask, you'll need to mark out a hole.If you choose to wear the mask, you'll want to have enough space for your nose to fit.
Step 3: Take out the mask, eye, nose, and mouth holes.
You can use scissors or a craft knife.
Step 4: Cut three nose pieces from the same cardboard.
Again, use a reference picture. The nose pieces should have a nose end that is longer than the forehead. You want to layer them over your nose. You might want to cut four or five if you have a long nose.
Step 5: There are nose holes in all of the nose pieces.
When you don the mask, this will give your nose breathing room.If you plan to wear the mask for a long period of time, you may want to cut the nose holes to expose your nostrils.
Step 6: The nosepiece will go on the outside if the circle is cut at the top of the forehead.
This is where the "L" is used to identify the mask.
Step 7: Fix the nose pieces.
When you're satisfied with the arrangement of your nose pieces, you may want to glue them in place as you adjust their positions and refine their nose holes.
Step 8: The nose needs to be created with rivets.
You can cut out cardboard circles to make the four nose rivets.Plastic or metal heads can be removed from thumbtacks.Don't use the entire tack.Light rivet heads are used.
Step 9: Attach the rivet to the nosepiece.
Place them correctly if you use the reference picture as your guide.
Step 10: The "L" symbol is in cardboard.
The size of the "L" should be appropriate to fit within the circle.Again, look at the reference picture.
Step 11: Fix the "L" on the nosepiece.
Step 12: The mask should be covered with a piece of paper.
You can use paper towel or toilet tissue on top of the base for the faceplate. There is a paper towel and toilet tissue for the nosepiece. If you put newsprint on the nosepiece, the details will show up better.
Step 13: While it is wet, gently bend the mask.
A gentle curve that matches your face is what you want. You may need to tape the back side of the mask to prevent it from drying out.
Step 14: It's a good idea to let the mache dry before painting.
Step 15: Paint the outside of the building with green and brown paint.
Step 16: If you want streaks of green, you can paint the inside of the faceplate black.
It is not necessary to paint the inside of the mask to protect it from water damage.
Step 17: The nosepiece should be painted brown with a bronzing rub.
The inside of the circle should be dark so that the "L" and rivet heads stand out more.
