In North America, tetherball is a yard game. Two players are trying to hit a ball that is tethered to the top of a pole while standing on a court. One player hits the ball clockwise while the other hits it counterclockwise until the winner is crowned. You can build your own tetherball court with a few inexpensive supplies.
Step 1: There is a tetherball pole.
Two 10-inch pieces of steel are welded together. This will be used as a base for the tetherball pole. The bar will not fit inside the tire unless you measure it carefully.
Step 2: Attach the pole to the base.
A 10-foot (3 meter) long piece of 2-inch (5 cm) pipe should be welded vertically to the center of the welded cross bars.If you want to secure the steel to the pole, you can drill holes in the pipe and use the tie wire.
Step 3: Attach the hook to the cord.
Attach the eye bolt to the top of the pole. The cord is attached to a ball. You can use a 38 in drill bit to drill a hole at the top of the pole.Attach a washer and eye bolt.Attach the bolt to the pole with one washer and a 38 in nut.
Step 4: Put the base in a tire.
The tether ball pole should be placed inside a used tire.Place a heavy-duty garbage bag under the tire.
Step 5: The pole should be secured with concrete.
The tether ball pole is firmly in place if you fill the tire with wet concrete and put it in the well.Make sure your pole is completely vertical by using a level.Attach your pole to a ladder or other tall structure with wire to make sure it stays in place while the concrete is drying.
Step 6: Allow the concrete to dry completely.
Check the manufacturer's label for instructions on how to dry the cement.Once the concrete is dry, remove the garbage bag from the tire.
Step 7: Attach the ball to the rope or cord.
Attach the other end of the rope or cord to the eye bolt. The cord and the ball should not come loose if your knots are secure. If the tetherballs come with a cord attached, use that instead of the rope.
Step 8: There is a tetherball location.
The play area should be free of obstruction and on level ground. You can choose between a grassy location or a paved driveway.
Step 9: To make your court, draw a circle on the ground.
The circle should be at least 3 meters in diameter. You can use spray paint to draw a circle.Use chalk to draw a circle.
Step 10: The ball pole should be moved to the center of the circle.
The tire needs to be maneuvered so that it lays on its side.Stand the tire up so the pole is vertical after rolling it.
Step 11: You can divide the circle into two halves by drawing a line through the center.
The tetherball pole's midpoint should intersect the line. The area of play for each player is determined by this line.
Step 12: You can play tetherball.
You are ready to play.Choose two players and hit the ball to each other. One person hits the ball clockwise while the other hits it counterclockwise. The object of the game is to wrap rope around the pole.
