How To Make Chakalaka

A relish dish consisting of tomatoes and beans, made with a spicy flavour, is called chakalaka in South Africa.It can be served as a meal with a decent serving of bread, polenta, or rice added.It's quick and easy to make, perfect for those times when you're tired and need food fast.The versions suggested are suitable for people who are vegetarian or vegan.It is traditional in South African families to modify it according to preference, so don't be afraid to try your own variations if you have a moment.

Step 1: The saucepan should be placed on the stove top.

Add the oil to the heat.

Step 2: Add the chopped onion, carrot, diced chilies and garlic.

There is a tip in the curry powder.The onion should turn soft after 5 minutes.It can stick and burn if you stir too much.

Step 3: The tomatoes should be added.

Bring the mixture to a boil.After it has boiled, reduce the heat and cook for 5 minutes.

Step 4: The beans should be added.

To mix in, stir.Salt and pepper can be added to the dish.

Step 5: Take out the heat.

Transfer to 2 bowls or plates.It's a good idea to serve warm with bread, polenta or rice.

Step 6: Place the large saucepan or pot on the stove top.

Medium heat is what you should heat over.

Step 7: The onion should be added.

For 1 to 2 minutes, cook until translucent.

Step 8: The spices should be added to the onion.

Adding the garlic, ginger, curry powder, and cayenne pepper is what this means.The leaves are stripped from the stem.It's on the medium heat and you have to stir it together for a minute.

Step 9: Add the diced bell peppers, sliced cabbage, and thin carrot slices to the cooked onions and spices.

Step 10: The baked beans should be put into the vegetable mixture.

Add the vegetable stock to the mix.For another 2 to 3 minutes, cook.

Step 11: Add seasonings as you please.

If you want to add fresh cracked pepper and salt, you have to taste it first.

Step 12: Transfer the chakalaka to bowls or plates.

You can serve it with bread.

Step 17: To check the consistency of the flavour, taste it.

To make it taste better, add salt and pepper.

Step 18: Add in the lemon rind.

The tomato should be softened by cooking the dish.

Step 19: Take out the heat.

Transfer to bowls or plates.You can serve it with bread, polenta, or rice.
