It is very easy to make jewelry at home. You can make your own jewelry at a fraction of the price if you choose to.Drop earrings are an easy type of handmade jewelry to learn. If you wear your creations yourself, they can be turned into frugal gifts.
Step 1: Take your materials.
Each earring requires a headpin, a French hook earwire, and an assortment of beads. You will also need pliers. If at least two can fit on a headpin, you can use any combination of beads you want.French hook earwires are the part of the earring that is in contact with your ears. They have a large hook hanging from your ear.A small loop on the opposite end of the large hook is used to attach the hook to the earring.Earwires are made of metals that are resistant to damage.
Step 2: Take out your bead design.
It's a good idea to plan your design first. To keep its length in mind, place a headpin on its side. There is a straight line parallel to the headpin.Don't take up more than a third of the headpin's length. If you don't find a pattern that works best, swap beads. There is a large piece at the bottom of many drop earrings.Consider a string of small beads on top of a big one.
Step 3: Attach your beads to the headpins.
Attach your beads to their headpin by stringing them starting with the bottom-most bead and ending at the top.The design doesn't work for you once on the pin.It is easy to reorganize the beads as you please at this stage.
Step 4: The pin can be bent into a 90 degree angle.
The pin should be above the button with the tip of the pliers.Use your thumb to press down on the free end of the headpin until it is completely horizontal.
Step 5: You can create a loop.
Just above the bend, hold the headpin with your pliers.Take the wire out of your pliers.Turn your wrist clockwise to flatten your pliers.Pull the end of the wire back to form a circle.
Step 6: Remove the excess and flatten the loop.
If there is excess wire at the end of the bent headpin, you can trim it with your wire cutter. The beginning of the loop should be touched by the tail end.The entire loop should be level with the help of your flat pliers.
Step 7: You can hang the earrings on the earwires.
You can attach your new earrings to any type of earwire or earpost you want because the loop you just made functions as a jump ring.To open the jump ring, use your pliers to push down on the tail end.Attach the ring to the earwire's jump ring.Pull up in the opposite direction to close the jump ring.
Step 8: You should gather your materials.
22 gauge wire, small wire cutters, jeweler's pliers, French hook earwires, and rondelle cut beads are required for these earrings.Any other type of round nose pliers will work just as well as specialty jeweler's pliers. Some small pliers can be used in a pinch.Small, round, flat beads are used as spacers in beaded jewelry. They can be made from many different materials.Pick one to three colors.Depending on the size of your rondelle beads, you'll be using about three per earring.
Step 9: You need to cut your wire.
There is a small piece of wire that needs to be untangled.Straighten it out to get an accurate measurement.Cut four inches of wire from each earring using your wire cutter.
Step 10: To form a flat loop, bend your wires.
Use your fingers to bend a length of wire so that it forms an earring. The ends should cross at the top.The wire should look like a fish.
Step 11: You can add your beads.
You can put your beads on the wire loop.Only about as many will fit on the bottom edge. There are three rondelle beads.
Step 12: Your wire is on your right side.
Hold the right side wire with your pliers. To make a loop, twist it gently.Under the left wire lie the right side wire.
Step 13: Wrap the wires together.
Wrap your wire around the crossing point twice. The right side wire needs to be removed.Wrap the left side wire around the crossing point. The earring should be made up of two loops separated by a coil. The free end of the larger loop is where your beads will be.
Step 14: Attach your earrings to an earwire.
To open the earwire's jump ring, use your pliers. You can hang your earrings by the smaller loop. You have a finished set of earrings if you use your pliers to close the earwires back up.
