The World Wide Web has one of the most widely used graphics formats. The ability to feature animated images and text like a video is what makes these image files so popular.A number of free web tools make it possible for anyone to make their own GIFs from pre-existing videos or images in minutes, while power users can use software like Gimp to create animated GIFs.Let's get creative!
Step 1: Decide if you want to use a video-to-GIF conversion app.
Giphy GIF Maker and IMGUR Video to GIF are two of the many that can be used in your web browser.Read lots of reviews in the app store if you want to download an app.You should never download or run software from a site you don't trust.Up to 15 seconds of online video can be created with the two apps mentioned. This is not new.Your video must be uploaded to a website that allows you to publicly share it.Giphy allows you to upload your own video.
Step 2: Pick your video.
If you use a site like Giphy, you can find a video that has anywhere from 1.5 to 15 seconds of movement to turn into a Gif.Open the video in your browser.
Step 3: The video needs to be loaded into the converter.
Different apps will have different steps. You should open the video in your browser if you are using a video on a site. You can copy the entire URL of the video file from the address bar.The box should tell you to paste the URL.If you're uploading video, you should find a button on the video-to-gif conversion tool that says "Browse Your Video Files."
Step 4: Define the length of your video.
Each site has different options for editing, but all of them will let you define a specific section of the video to convert to a Gif.You can set a start and end point for your image in Imgur.
Step 5: Text can be added to your image.
You can add text or other flair to your video-to-GIF.There is a button that says add text or add caption.
Step 6: The file needs to be created.
When you're done with the creative process, you can use the Save menu in your web app.Pick a name and save it to your computer in a folder. If your GIF is over 10MB, web app converters will create a file that ends with a different name, but you will still be able to use it.If you open your web browser, you can see your GIF.Drag the Gif into your browser window from the folder where it was saved. If you're on a mobile device, browse the file and open it.The animation will start playing.
Step 7: Take a set of pictures.
Make sure you have the images on your computer or mobile device if you want to make an animated Gif.If the images are online, you should download them to your PC or Mac.
Step 8: An image-to-GIF conversion is available.
There are a lot of options, such as GifCreator. Both of these apps are accessible on the web.The ability to modify the size of each frame is one of the features of these converters. They can be used on all mobile devices. Many of the free apps that allow you to create GIFs are bogged down with ads. Before you download an app, make sure you read reviews.
Step 9: Your first image should be uploaded.
You can find the button that says "Upload Images" in your browser, depending on which conversion you're using.Clicking on the browse box will allow you to select your first image. If you double-click the image, you will see a thumbnail in the conversion.
Step 10: The size of the image should be adjusted.
Some settings are displayed below the image, such as size or repeat times. You can adjust these aspects with the help of the sliders.Clicking the thumbnail of the image will bring you back to them.
Step 11: Add and adjust images.
If you want to add more photos, click the "Upload Images" button. You don't have to worry about uploading them out of sequence if you drag the images around to arrange them in different orders. You can change the size of the image.Look for a button that says "Preview" or "Play" if you don't already see a preview of the animation.
Step 12: The file needs to be created.
Once you've adjusted the order and size of your animation, you can open the Save dialog and create a new one.You can choose a memorable file name and a folder on your device.Click either option to save your creation.
Step 13: It's possible to open the GIMP.
This method will work for you if you want to make an animated Gif from scratch. If you haven't done so yet, then launch the software.
Step 14: A new image can be created.
You can change the width and height of your image by clicking on the new image option in the file menu.Choose "in" from the list and type the image size you want.Pick a color to use for the background of your Gif.There are two boxes under the tool bar filled with colors that can be used for foreground and background. To create your image, click the "OK" button.
Step 15: The Layers dock should be visible.
SelectLayers from the list when you open the "Windows" menu.
Step 16: A new layer is needed for your first element.
There must be a separate layer for each piece of your animation. The Layers box has a small square piece of paper at the bottom left corner. If you want to switch between layers later, you should type a name for your layer next to theLayer name.Click "OK" if you want to make sure the animation is seamless.
Step 17: Images or text should be added to the layer.
If you want to draw on this later, click the paintbrush icon in the sidebar, select a color, and draw your picture. To insert text, click the "A" on the sidebar, then click somewhere to begin typing.Everything you put in this layer will be animated. If you draw an image on this layer, it will be in the same frame of the animation as the text.Look at the layers dialog and notice the "Opacity" option after you've put images or text on this layer. If you want a layer to be less opaque, slide the knob down.
Step 18: If you want, you can create another layer.
This step can be repeated for many different layers in your animation.Click the "OK" button if you want the new layer's name to be unique from the last layer.
Step 19: There is a preview of your animation.
You can see a preview of your animation when you open the Filters menu.
Step 20: You can change animation options.
Make sure the box is checked next to "As animation" if you want the animation to loop continuously.Your preview looked rather fast because it was 100.Click "Export" to change it to something larger.
Step 21: The delay should be fine-tuned.
If you don't want your layers to appear at the same time, you can change the duration of each layer on your own.Next to the layer name, type the duration (in milliseconds) directly, without a space, like this: LAYERNAME(200ms) Click "OK to save that layer, and modify."
Step 22: You can preview and export your animation.
To see how your changes have changed the animation, click on "Animation" and select "Playback" in the Filters menu. When you're ready to save the image, click "File" then "Export" and choose "GIF image" again. You can save your animation by giving it a name.

Step 24: The Layers and Animation panels are open.
The layers panel should be visible because each frame of your animation needs to be its own layer. You can check both layers and animations by clicking on the window menu. The panels will show up in your workspace.
Step 25: For your first frame, create a new layer.
Click the plus sign to add a new layer.Next to name, type a name for your layer, such as "Frame 1."Click "OK" to make a new layer. The animation needs to be on a frame.Anything you put on this new layer will be rendered in one frame.

If you want to draw on this layer, choose a color from the swatch panel and click the paintbrush tool.To add text, click the "T" to launch the tool.
Step 27: Your next frame can be created.
The second frame of your animation is created by creating another layer. If the next frame of your animation will be a slight modification to the first frame, you may want toClone your layer instead of creating a new one.To clone the layer, right-click on that layer in the Layers panel and select "Duplicate layer." Continue creating layers until you have each individual frame of your animation on its own layer.
Step 28: The animation panel can be used to create new frames.
The New Frame button is located in the Animation panel at the bottom of the screen. This will create a new frame. There are layers in your animation when you click this button.Make 7 frames if your animation has 7 layers.
Step 29: The first frame can be edited in the animation panel.
The first frame is in the panel. From the thumbnail, you can see that the frame consists of every layer in your animation. The Layers panel has a small eyeball symbol next to it.The symbol shows that the layer is visible. The eyeball symbol should be removed from each of the other layers in order to make the first frame in the animation panel display. You can change the duration by adjusting the time under the thumbnail.
Step 30: Next frames should be edited.
Remove visibility from all layers other than the one you want to be visible in the frame if you click each additional frame. The time at the bottom of the thumbnail should be adjusted.
Step 31: You can test your animation by pressing the play button.

If you don't want to use the top pulldown menu, click on the word "Preset" and then "Save for Web and Devices."
Step 33: To convert an image to a Gif, you have to make a decision.
It's possible that websites or apps require your images to be in the GIF format. It is possible to convert nearly any image file to a Gif.If you're using a higher-quality image such as a JPG, BMP or TIFF, converting to this format may reduce image quality because it's only capable of displaying 256 colors. You'll need to save your image to your computer if it's on the Internet.Pictures can be saved to your PC or MacBook. If you have an image that needs to be scanned, read How to Scan Photos.
