When soaked in water, orbse grow into squishy, bouncy balls.Orbeez are great for sensory play with children, or you can use them as an adult for stress relief if you grow them at home.
Step 1: Orbeez can be purchased in-store or online.
Visit a craft store or toy store to find Orbeez, and choose a package in your favorite color or get a mixed package. If you plan on making a lot of Orbeez, look for multi-packs, which can hold up to 10,000 pellets, to save money.Stick to packages of 100, 200 or 500 Orbeez. You can order Orbeez online if you can't find them in a store.
Step 2: Put the package of Orbeez in the container.
To open the packet, use a pair of scissors and make sure not to spill Orbeez on the ground. The package needs to be emptied into a large bowl.If you spill Orbeez on the floor, you can use a vacuum. You can empty the vacuum chamber and dispose of the Orbeez after you sweep them up.
Step 3: For every 100 Orbeez, add 1 cup of warm water.
Carefully pour the water over the beads in the bowl to make sure that they don't get wet.If you don't have enough water for the Orbeez, they'll absorb the water as they grow and expand in the bowl.Salt can be added to the water to preserve the Orbeez for a long time. The Orbeez will retain water for longer. You can still make Orbeez if you don't have water filters. They are still fun to play with even though they are a bit smaller.
Step 4: The Orbeez should be soaked in the water for at least four hours.
The Orbeez will grow to about 100 times their original size.Make sure they have enough water in the bowl by checking them every hour.If not, add another cup of water. After 4 hours, replenish the water and leave them to soak. The Orbeez haven't soaked up enough water if they are not perfectly round. They should be left in the water until they are perfect spheres.
Step 5: Remove the extra water from the bowl with the Orbeez.
There could be more water at the bottom of the container.Transfer the Orbeez back into the bowl by pouring the entire bowl into a strainer.
Step 6: You can play with your Orbeez.
Run them through your fingers, bounce them on the ground, or play a game with them.Pick up Orbeez if you drop it on the floor because it can be slippery.A mini bocce ball is a game where you and your friends try to get your Orbeez close to a target ball. Each team can take turns rolling the target ball with different Orbeez colors.Try playing bullseye with a friend.Take turns with your friend rolling an Orbeez into the center of a bullseye by drawing it on a sheet of paper. You can play Orbeez croquet with friends. You can use paper clips to create your coursehoops. An Orbeez course is similar to putt-putt golf.If you can get Orbeez through the course in a few tries, challenge your friends to do the same.Classic games like marbles or Chinese checkers can be played with different colored Orbeez.
Step 7: The Orbeez can be kept in a bag or container.
When you are done playing with them, put them in a container with a lid or plastic bag.Store them for up to a week if you make sure the container is completely closed.Don't worry if your Orbeez dries out.Re-soak them in warm water to make them grow again. If your Orbeez smell bad, grow a new one.
Step 8: You can either dispose of your Orbeez in the trash or reuse them in your garden.
Don't rinse your Orbeez down the drain when you're done playing with them.Throw them away or mix them with the soil of your potted plants to help retain water.Orbeez were originally developed to slowly release water into the soil. They will release their water when they sit in the soil. You won't have to water your plants as frequently if you mix them into the soil.
Step 9: Purchase a bag of pearls.
If you're having difficulty in your search, look for specialty Asian markets. There is a clear package with white spheres.Since pearls are used for making food, it is safe for small children to put them in their mouths.Children won't have an adverse reaction if they eat them.
Step 10: The water should be boiled for 4 cups.
Place the pot over high heat after pouring the water into it.Once the water is at a rapid boil, cover the pot with a lid.The bag of pearls should be opened.Depending on the size of your pot, it may take slightly more or less time to boil the water.
Step 11: The bag of pearls should be put into the water.
All of the pearls have to be submerged in the water in order to fit into the bowl. They can't stick together if you stir them around with a wooden spoon. The pearls can be cooked at a high temperature for 1-2 minutes. If the pearls are not submerged, add more water at a time until they are.
Step 12: The pearls should be in the water for 20 minutes.
The pearls can cook and expand in the water if the heat is lowered to a medium-high level.Don't try to break the pearls apart, just stir them occasionally with a wooden spoon. As they cook, the pearls will separate. When the pearls are ready to strain, they will look like bubbles.
Step 13: The pearls should be washed in a strainer.
To rinse the pearls, pour the contents of the pot into a strainer and run cool water over them.rinse the pearls until they are cool to the touch. As you rinse the pearls with the cool water, keep in mind that steam might rise off of them. You should be gentle with the pearls because of the quick temperature change.Remove the broken pearl from the strainer.
Step 14: You can play with water marbles.
It's a good idea to show young children how to hold and touch the pearls by washing their hands.Put the finished water marbles in a container and allow your children to play with them. Some of the games recommended for store bought Orbeez might not be ideal for homemade batches. When you play games with your homemade water marbles, you should plan accordingly because Starch can dry and leave a glue-like trail behind. You might want to use your water marbles to make art, make bubble tea, play checkers with different colors for different teams, or organize watermarble bingo using the marble's as chips to cover squares that have been called.
Step 15: You can keep your water marbles in the refrigerator for up to a week.
If left uncovered or stored for too long, tapioca pearls will oxidize. They can be put in a plastic container or bag and put on a shelf in the fridge for up to a week. You should not use the pearls for making food or drinks after you've played with them.
