A delicious meal can be made with just a box of pasta and some sauce. It's easy to make and perfect for a weeknight dinner when you don't want to cook a lot.You just have to cook the pasta, heat up the sauce and enjoy.
Step 1: Determine how much pasta you need.
2 ounces of pasta per person is the average serving size. That's about half a cup of dried macaroni or a few dried fettuccine noodles.Measure out the pasta you want to cook from the box. It's fine if you find it easier to cook the whole box.You can always eat leftovers. The type of pasta you choose is up to you.Fettuccine noodles are often used with Alfredo sauce.Regardless of the type of pasta you have on hand, feel free to use it.
Step 2: Bring the tall pot of water to a boil.
It doesn't matter how much water you use, you just need enough to submerge the pasta.Make sure you have enough when you fill the pot on the safe side. Before you add pasta, you want it to come to a full boil.Salt the water to flavor the pasta. You can add a few shakes of salt. After the pasta has been cooked, you can add salt.
Step 3: The pasta should be put in the water.
The pasta will begin to cook when it is dropped into the water.
Step 4: The package states how long the pasta should be cooked for.
Different types of pasta need different cooking times. It should take eight to ten minutes to cook pasta. Most people like their pasta to be al dente, which means it has a bit of bite to it.You can taste the pasta by using a fork to pull out a piece.Remove the texture if you like it.Or hit a piece of pasta against the wall. It's ready if it sticks.
Step 5: The pasta needs to be removed from the heat.
Put the pasta on a different burner when the heat is turned off.
Step 6: Figure out how much sauce to use.
You need the same amount of sauce as pasta. If you make enough pasta for two people, heat enough sauce for them.To find out how much sauce is in one serving, check the nutrition label on the jar.
Step 7: Put the sauce in a pot.
The pot you use needs to be large enough to fit both the pasta and sauce.
Step 8: The sauce should be over medium heat.
Put the pan on a burner, turn the burner to medium, and let the sauce begin to heat.To keep it from getting hot on the bottom, stir it occasionally with a spatula or spoon. It will take about five minutes to heat up.Before you go to the next step, make sure the sauce is hot.
Step 9: The pasta should be in the sauce.
Lift the pasta from the pot and put it in the pan.You can use tongs or a pronged pasta spoon.Continue until all of the pasta is in the pan with the sauce.
Step 10: For three more minutes, stir it together and cook it.
It will give the pasta and sauce time to combine and take on a nice texture.Remove the pan from the heat after three minutes.
Step 11: The pasta and sauce should be placed on a plate.
You could have everyone serve themselves by pouring it into a bowl.
Step 12: Add more if you want.
With pasta and Alfredo sauce, grated parmesan cheese and chopped parsley taste great. You can either add as many as you want or just eat it plain.Add salt and pepper to make it taste better.
Step 13: You can eat with bread and salad.
If you want to make your pasta dish into a complete meal, serve it with garlic bread and a salad on the side.
