You can learn how to measure a distance on the map.You can use the ruler tool to measure the distance between two points, or the total distance of a custom route on the map.
Step 1: You can open the browser on your computer.
There is a requirement for the Chrome browser to run.You can use the mobile or desktop app.
Step 2: You can open the website.
If you want to return to your keyboard, type or paste into the address bar.
Step 3: Click the button to launch Earth.
On the top-right or bottom- left corner of the page, you can click this button.You can download the desktop app if you are using a different browser.If you're new to the program, it will open up to a screen with instructions on how to use it.You can skip it by clicking the button or the "" icon on the top-right.
Step 4: To zoom in on the area, scroll up and down.
You can find the area you want to measure by scrolling with your mouse or trackpad.The "" and "'" buttons can be found on the bottom-right corner.
Step 5: The ruler icon is white.
There is a sidebar on the left side of the page.You can use it to measure any distance on the map.
Step 6: There is a location on the map.
The starting point will be added by this.
Step 7: You can drag the map to move around.
After you add your starting point, you can drag the map to move around without adding another measurement point.
Step 8: To add a second point, click another location.
This will show the distance between the two points.There is a white pop-up on the top right showing the distance.You can see the total distance on the map with a yellow pop-up label.
Step 9: Measure a route with other points.
You can measure the total distance of the route by creating multiple location points on the map.
Step 10: The Done button can be found on the top-right.
A blue checkmark icon is next to a white pop-up box.It will show the total distance in the pop-up.Click the distance and choose a different measurement unit like miles, meters, yards or inches.
Step 11: You can click and drag the white dots on the route.
You can change the measurement distance or route by dragging a point around.The halfway points between each location can be dragged.
Step 12: You can open the app on your phone.
There is a blue ball on a white background.It can be found on your home screen, in an app folder or on the Apps tray.
Step 13: You can tap the button.
When you open the Earth app for the first time, you'll see a page on how to use it.You can skip the page by clicking this button.
Step 14: You can zoom in on the location.
You can put a frame around the area you want to measure.To zoom in and out, just pinch out and pinch in.
Step 15: The white ruler icon is at the top.
There is a button at the top of the screen.You can add location points and measure a distance.
Step 16: You can find the location you want to start.
The starting point is inside the circle in the middle of the screen.
Step 17: The Add Point button can be tapped.
There is a button in the lower-right corner of the screen.This location will be added as your starting point.
Step 18: The map should be moved to a different location.
To change your location, hold down and drag the map on the screen.A pop-up label below the center point shows the location's distance to the starting point.As you move, this distance will change.
Step 19: Add point with tap.
This will show the total distance in the lower- left corner, and add a second point at the current location.
Step 20: Measure a route with multiple points.
You can measure the total distance of any route on the Earth map by adding points at multiple locations.
Step 21: The white-on-blue checkmark button is on the top-right.
There is a button in the upper-right corner of the screen.It will measure the distance and finalize your route.You can see the distance on the white panel at the bottom of your screen.
Step 22: You can change your measurement unit.
You can change your measurement by touching the total distance at the bottom of your screen and selecting a different unit.
