Venetian blinds are a great way to add personality to your windows.People can't see into your house if you have mini blinds on.If you want to get the right sized mini blinds, it is important that you choose the correct measurement.Measuring for mini blinds can be done with a tape measure, pen or pencil, and piece of paper.
Step 1: For an uncluttered look, go with inside-mounted mini blinds.
The inside-mounted mini blinds hang on the inside of the window trim and give the windows a nice, neat appearance. The window trim needs to be at least 2–3 inches deep. You may have to install mini blinds if the window trim is less than this. The required depth is listed in the blind's product manual.
Step 2: You should remove anything that would block the mini blinds.
Look at the inside of your window trim to see if there are any obstructions that could block the blinds. If possible, remove them.If these things are permanently installed, your blinds may not be able to open or close.
Step 3: To get the closest measurement, round it to the nearest 8 inch (0.32 cm).
There are 8 inch (0.32 cm) mini blind sizes. To find blinds that fit your window, you have to round them to the nearest 8 inch (0.32 cm).
Step 4: To determine the depth of your window, use a tape measure.
If possible, use a metallic or steel tape measure. To determine the depth of your window, you need to hold the tape measure against the left or right side of the window.Take a piece of paper and write down your measurement.
Step 5: On the top, middle, and bottom of your window, measure the width.
Measure across to the top right edge of the window trim using the tape measure.Measure the window itself if it doesn't have trim.Take 2 more measurements across the middle and bottom edge of the window. You can get the most accurate measurement by measuring the window in different spots.
Step 6: Take the height down the middle, left, and right sides.
The measurement is called the length of the blinds. The same way you did for the width of the window, take your vertical measurements.Measure on a piece of paper.
Step 7: You can choose the shortest width and height.
Pick the smallest one for your windows based on the height and width you wrote down. This will prevent blinds from rubbing against the window trim.
Step 8: You can order blinds that fit your measurements.
Now that you know the dimensions of your mini blinds, you can find them online or at a furniture store. When you're ready, purchase and install them.
Step 9: Mini blinds can be used to make windows appear larger.
Outside-mounted blinds are blinds that are attached to the outside of the window. If your windows aren't deep enough for interior blinds or if there are obstructions on your window trim, consider using outside-mounted blinds. It is possible to block out the sun with exterior-mounted window blinds.
Step 10: To get the closest measurement, round it to the nearest 8 inch (0.32 cm).
Mini blind sizes are usually rounded to the closest inch. The dimensions for your windowsill and the height and width of your blinds will be taken. To find mini blinds that fit your windows, round your numbers.
Step 11: Measure the width of the window using a metal tape measure.
Pull the tape measure across the window's width to the other side of the blinds. The measurement should be recorded on a piece of paper.
Step 12: The width measurement should be at least 1.5 inches.
This will allow for more space on the sides of your blinds. If you want bigger blinds, add more to that number.Since exterior blinds hang on the outside of your window trim, you want to get blinds that are large enough to overlap over the wall. The final measurement should be written down on a piece of paper.
Step 13: Measure the height of the blinds.
Go to the top left corner of the window trim and measure down.Pull the tape measure down to the floor to record the measurement if you want your blinds to hang all the way down.
Step 14: Add at least 4 inches to the height.
Add at least 4 inches (10 cm) to compensate for the height of the window brackets that will attach to the wall.To know how tall your window brackets are, read the product description. The final measurement can be recorded on a piece of paper.
Step 15: You can measure from the top of the window to the windowsill.
If you have a windowsill, you want to make sure that the blinds don't hang too low.Attach the tape measure to the top of the window. The measurement should be written down on a piece of paper.
Step 16: Purchase blinds that fit your measurements.
You can find exterior-hanging blinds that match your window's measurements if you know how large your blinds have to be.You can buy blinds that are bigger than your actual window because they aren't restricted by your window trim.Once you find blinds that you like, you can buy and install them.
