It may be difficult to open the case and access the camera for the first time. The user manual doesn't give a lot of information as to how to open these cases. With a little strength and the right tactic, you will have your camera out in no time.If you have trouble pinching things together or opening things with your fingers, you may need to ask someone for help. The exception to this is the GoPro HERO 3 which provides arrowed instructions and buttons on the case to make it easier to use.
Step 1: The camera needs to be connected to the mount.
The first thing you have to do is make sure the case isn't attached to anything, be it a camera mount or platform.Looking at the base of the camera from the back, there will be a raised clip securing it to the platform. The piece you want to lift is similar to a horseshoe.
Step 2: Put the two prongs together.
To fit between the barrier walls on either side of the backpacks, you will need to apply some pressure to squeeze the two protruding prongs together. When you detach the camera from the mount, the prongs will come off of it.
Step 3: The camera should be pushed forward to detach.
Push the camera away from you so the prongs fit between the two walls that are locking it in place. The inner walls should be flush with the widest parts of the prongs. If you are struggling, you may need to pinch the prongs harder.
Step 4: The top latch needs to be open.
Hold the camera from behind, place your index finger on the front right corner of the latch, and press your thumb along the long edge.Pull directly upwards with your index finger and the latched object should open. The edge along the front of the camera is shorter than the edge on the back. You should be able to see the hooks holding the back of the case shut if you look carefully.Imagine these hooks as a hinge for the latch. There is a button on the top of the latch to lock it down with a white arrow on it, as well as a second arrow in the front right corner for the secondary release.Hold the button in the empty space next to it and press the corner button to open it.This should be a relatively easy process.
Step 5: Pull the long side up.
The aim is to unhook this side of the case.Lift the long edge straight up with your thumb when the short end of the latch is pulled up.The case's hooks keep it waterproof, so be careful not to damage it.
Step 6: The back should be pulled off.
The back of the case should open now that the hook is unlatched.Pull back on the top and let it hang down, because the hinge is at the bottom. If you want to access your camera, you don't need to take the door off completely.
Step 7: The camera needs to be removed.
You will be able to see the camera. The camera should slide out if the case is tilted backwards. If you have to grab it with your fingers, just be prepared to catch it when it slides out.
