Pods are portable storage units that are dropped in your yard so you can pack them for storage or an easier, worry-free move. You can maximize the number of items you can store with a plan.If you organize and stack your stuff correctly, you will have a ready-made Pod in no time.
Step 1: You should work through 1 tier at a time.
There are 4 ft horizontal sections marked by wooden or metal panels on each side of the Pod.Working on 1 tier at a time allows you to pack each section of the Pod to its full potential without the hassle of you climbing over your belongings.Pods are usually 8 by 8 ft wide and tall, but have 3 different depths: 16 feet, 12 feet and 7 feet. The medium-sized Pod has 3 tiers, the smallest has 2, and the largest has 4 tiers.
Step 2: The furniture and appliances should be distributed evenly.
The weight should be balanced on each side of the furniture. If you put a heavy couch on one side of the Pod, place a piece of furniture similar in weight to the other side so it's evenly distributed and less likely to tip over.As much as possible, break down your furniture. The legs could be removed from tables and chairs. If you can, turn couches on their ends so you have more floor space. If you place all of your furniture on one side of the unit, it could cause damage to your goods when they are transported.
Step 3: The boxes should be similar in size to make them easy to stack.
Irregular sized boxes are more difficult to stack because of the risk of falling over.Stack cube-shaped boxes with the same dimensions on each side to give you the most flexibility. The boxes in uniform sizes are available to purchase from the PODS company.
Step 4: The heavier boxes should be placed on the bottom.
There are boxes in the open areas of your unit.As close to the ceiling of the container as possible, Stack the boxes as high as you can. This makes sure your belongings don't move around. You have to pack your boxes completely. To keep the contents of your box from shifting, fill in smaller spaces with knick-knacks.Don't forget to mark what's inside each box with a marker for future reference. The boxes should be filled all the way to the center to prevent them from collapsing.
Step 5: You can keep items at the front of the container.
If you have objects you need to take out immediately after a move, you should keep them near the door of the Pod.You can get to your stuff much faster by pulling them out as needed. You should leave 4 to 6 in between your stuff and the door.Do you want to use a coffee maker or kitchen supplies after you move? These items should be placed near the door.
Step 6: There are pieces of cardboard between the things and the door.
Place the broken down boxes against your things. These help keep your things from falling forward and jamming the door when you move.Put your mattress in the Pod last. You won't have to use a layer of cardboard because this will act as a barrier.
Step 7: Small spaces can be secured with garbage bags and pillows.
As you pack your unit, there are going to be open spaces between your objects. To fill the space, use soft objects like clothes or stuffed animals. The more tightly packed you are, the less likely your belongings are to get damaged.
Step 8: There are narrow objects near the ceiling of the unit.
You can find objects that fit the space if you weren't able to reach the ceiling with your boxes or furniture.Wrap them in blankets or bubble wrap to make them tighter. There are oddly shaped items that work well in the top of your container.
Step 9: Thin boxes or framed photos can be put into narrow gaps.
If you have large prints of photos or artwork, you may be able to put them in between boxes or furniture. If anything in your home could fit in the spaces between your objects, you should look for them.In between stacks of frames and delicate items, use a layer of bubble wrap or a soft blanket. You can put framed work on top of boxes.
Step 10: Wrap furniture.
Wrap your furniture completely to protect it from damage during your move. The material should be completely covered with plastic or blankets to keep it clean.Pack the blankets with duct tape or packing tape.Hardware stores have large rolls of plastic wrap and moving blankets. The bag you use to protect your mattress should be the correct size.
Step 11: There are moving blankets or bubble wrap that you can put fragile objects in.
Wrap pictures in frames and mirrors thoroughly because they are vulnerable to breaking. The bubble wrap or blanket should be held around the object with packing tape to prevent it from getting damaged.
Step 12: Load the hooks with rope or straps to keep your stuff in place.
hooks or anchor should be located where each tier is separated.Use braided rope or elastic loading straps to secure your stuff in the tier you packed it in.A zigzag pattern with rope or bands working from the top of the unit to the bottom. To secure the ropes to the hooks, use overhand knots.
Step 13: It's a good idea to cover items that can be damaged by the sun.
It will be exposed to the heat of the sun and light when it is outside of your home. This could cause a lot of damage. If you plan on storing sensitive items, cover them with a moving blanket. All of your belongings should be put on blankets at the top of the unit.Pods hold heat but are waterproof.
Step 14: The container should have absorbers to prevent mold.
There are small containers filled with baking soda and calcium chloride that can be used to rid the area of dampness. The heat from the sun could cause mold or other problems. To keep everything dry and mold-free, place 1 or 2 absorbers in each tier of the container. You can buy absorbers at hardware stores or online.
Step 15: If you don't use your unit, make sure it's locked.
You may need to provide your own locks if you get the unit.If you leave the unit unattended, keep your belongings secure. When your unit is locked, don't keep valuables in the container.Bring them with you when you move so they don't get lost.
