How To Pack Pots and Pans

Pots and pans can suffer damage in a move like any other household item.A scratch on the pan's surface could ruin it.Take care when packing your pots and pans, use a secure, durable box and separate them with wrapping paper, bubble wrap or spare dishtowels.

Step 1: Pans and pots need to be cleaned.

The material used to wrap or separate it from other items could be affected by a dirty pot.If the move results in any kind of storage time your items might develop mold, make sure the pots and pans are dry before packing. You will be able to inspect your pots and pans before you leave if there is damage during the move.

Step 2: Pack materials.

Good quality moving boxes should be a medium size.Don't use duct tape and get packing tape.To effectively secure fragile items, you need to separate out your items with wrapping sheets or newspaper, as well as use spare clothing or linen.

Step 3: Place tape on the bottom of the box.

If the box collapses, a pot or pan will be damaged. To make sure the box can handle the weight of the items, apply strips of tape along the seams. The more tape you apply, the heavier the box.

Step 4: Pots and pans can be nested.

Pots and pans can be stacked together to take up less space. There is a small pot inside a medium pot.If the pots are too tight a fit, it could cause damage.Align the handles to further reduce the space. If a pot or pan is particularly valuable, or vulnerable to damage, consider packing in a small individual box or at least individually.

Step 5: Newspaper, bubble wrap or dishtowels can be used to separate pots and pans.

If they come into contact with each other when moving, they could cause damage.Wrap the pots and pans completely in paper and line the cooking surfaces, the most valuable area of the items, with the bubble wrap or dishtowel. It is possible to make the pots level when stacking in a nest by lining the interiors with dishtowels.Wrap the interior of the largest pot and place the smaller pot inside it.Wrap the rest of the pots as a whole.

Step 6: Take care with glass.

It is a good idea to keep the pots in the same box so they don't get separated during the move.As per the pots and pans, wrap the lids completely, but take particular care with glass lids, as they are easily broken.Wrap with a dish towel or bubble wrap.

Step 7: Don't leave empty space.

Make sure the box is full and items are secured before you seal it up.You can either fill the rest of the space around the pots with wrapping paper or use it as an opportunity to pack clothes or cushions.Don't add heavy items to fill the space.Adding more items to the box could cause it to become a hazardous weight.

Step 8: You should label each box clearly.

If the box is heavy, use packing tape to seal it, just as you did when you secured the bottom. The box should be labeled with the room you want it delivered to.There is a kitchen and its contents. If required, label the box heavy or fragile.
