There is a beautiful difference between the two colors. It is elegant and simple. Many people use ombre on fabrics and furniture, but did you know that you can use it on walls as well?If you want to use one wall as an accent, you can use the ombre technique. The efforts are well worth it and will add a wow-factor to your room.
Step 1: Protect your furniture and flooring.
Move furniture away from the walls.Remove the switch and outlet plates. Finally, place a drop cloth over the floor in front of the wall. The cloth can be made from canvas or plastic.
Step 2: Let your walls dry.
A mixture of soap and water can be used to clean the wall. After you have cleaned the walls, let them air dry.Cleaning the walls will help remove dirt and oils that can cause the paint to stick. If the wall has wallpaper, it's a good idea to remove it first. Then apply a primer or base coat.
Step 3: There are trims and joints between ceilings and walls.
Make sure the top edge of the painters tape is touching the wall by laying it down on the trim.Next, lay a strip of tape on the edge of the ceiling.Put a strip of tape on either side of the first wall. The paint may get where you don't want it if the tape gets wrinkled.
Step 4: Use a pencil, ruler, and level to divide your wall into rows.
It's up to you, but you need at least two rows. The rows don't have to be the same thickness. If you want to blend with a sponge, use a strip of painter's tape to divide the rows.
Step 5: Measure each row's length and height.
This will give you an idea of how much paint you will need. Most brands of paint are sold based on square footage, so you should take your measurement in feet/meters.
Step 6: The first two colors of paint should be mixed and poured.
You can open the can to get your first color of paint.Give it a good stir with a wooden stir stick and pour it into a painting tray. The second color of paint should be followed by the second row.Shake the can and it can introduce too many air bubbles.
Step 7: There is a gap between the first two sections.
To apply your first color of paint, use a paint roller. The process should be repeated with a clean roller. There is a 6 inch gap between the two rows.If you are working on a wall that is more than 1.5 meters wide, you should start there. If you used a strip of painter's tape to divide the rows, then peel the tape off.
Step 8: The first two colors of paint should be applied with a wide brush.
Next to each other, pull the paint trays. The right side of the brush should be put into the left pan.The brush should be centered. The first color should be applied to the left side of the sponge, and the second color on the right side.Do not paint the sponge.
Step 9: The brush should be run along the gap until the white space is covered.
The first color is on the bottom and the second on top.Make sure you off-set the brush with each pass by running it back and forth along the gap.The blend of the two colors will cover up any areas that are not painted. If you are using a sponge, apply the paint as needed. You can help smooth things out by going back along the line.If you are working on a large wall, use a 5-foot strip instead.
Step 10: If you want to do the next set of colors, you have to work your way along the wall.
You may need to repeat the process a few times depending on the length of the wall.It is best to work in 5-foot sections because paint dries quickly. If you need to, move onto the next two rows. The second row and the third row should be in your next two rows.
Step 11: The painter's tape should be removed from the trim, ceiling, and adjacent walls.
If you want to paint other walls, you can do it now.If you want to get nice, clean lines, apply painter's tape to the trim, ceiling, and adjacent walls.
Step 12: Touch up any patches with a smaller brush.
Take a close look at the blend.Touch the missing patches with a smaller paintbrush and the right paint color.
Step 13: There are bleeds on the trim, ceiling and adjacent walls.
The painter's tape is supposed to prevent this from happening, but there is a chance that some paint got underneath it.If there are any bleeds, check the trim, ceiling, and adjacent walls. If you see any, cover them with a clean brush and a matching paint color.
Step 14: Allow the paint to cure.
It doesn't mean that something is completely dry and ready to use if it feels dry to the touch. Many types of paint need a few days to cure.Check your can for specific drying and curing times.
Step 15: Remove the drop cloth and replace it with a new one.
Your room is ready to use.Leave a window open for a few days so that the paint smell can go away.
