How To Pick a Specific Replacement for an Item in an Instacart Order

You don't have to rely on your Shopper's substitution choices if you order on Instacart and find that some items are not available.You can specify replacements ahead of time with this process.

Step 1: Add your preferred item to the order.

Adding your first choice to your order is typically what you would do before specifying a potential substitute.Click on the box near the top of the screen to type in the product name.If you tap the + sign on the top right corner of the item you want to purchase, you can adjust the quantity.Then press the "add to cart" button.The + button is used to purchase additional quantities of the item.If you want to continue, tap the cart.

Step 2: You can open the cart.

The Shopping cart icon can be found at the top of any page or in the right corner of the website.

Step 3: The instructions are on the button.

Underneath the title and size of the item is where this should be found.

Step 4: If item is out of stock, tap it.

A button.

Step 5: Pick specific replacement.

Step 6: The replacement item should be picked from the list.

If the item you want to use as a substitute isn't on the list, you can use the search box underneath the title to find it.As you type, the list will show possible replacements.

Step 7: The button is "done"

You can type those instructions into the box below "Special instructions for your shopper" if you have them.There is a button in the top right corner.

Step 8: Check it out.

If you were running an order without substitution replacements, you would do the same thing.If you don't have at least the ten dollar minimum, you will not be able to check out until the greyed out "Checkout" button is located at the bottom of the cart page.
