In Congkak, opponents compete to get the most shells into their storehouse.Congkak used to be only played by women and children, but it is a great game for anyone of any age.The game is popular in many countries. If you have a Congkak board you can learn the rules quickly.
Step 1: Take a look at the game board and pieces.
The houses and storehouse are two of the seven holes in the congkak board. Each player uses a side of the board that is closest to him or her. Each player has seven shells in his or her house.
Step 2: Understand the object of the game.
The storehouse on your left-hand side is the object of the Congkak. You can move your shells by picking up all of the shells in one house and depositing them in the other houses. The first person to empty his or her house is the winner. You can put one shell into your storehouse, but not the other. If you drop a shell into an empty house that you own, you can take all of the shells from your opponent's house across the street and put them in your storehouse.
Step 3: Put the game together.
Place the Congkak board on the level between you and your opponent. Each one of you should have 49 shells or Congkak seeds. Before the game starts, fill your seven houses with Congkak seeds.Make sure your opponent does the same thing. You should leave your storehouse empty.
Step 4: Who will go first?
Who will take the first turn? The person who won the last game you played together can go first if you flip a coin.
Step 5: All of the shells and seeds are on your side.
Drop a shell into the next house and then deposit it into every house.Drop a shell into your opponent's storehouse, but don't deposit any shells into it.
Step 6: If you deposit your last shell into your storehouse, you will have another chance.
You can take another turn if the last shell falls into your storehouse. If you scoop up the shells from another house, you can deposit them into other houses.
Step 7: If you deposit your last shell into one of his empty storehouses, skip a turn.
There are empty storehouses on your opponent's side.If you drop your last shell into one of your opponent's empty houses, you lose a turn.Try to avoid the empty houses of your opponent.
Step 8: If you deposit your last shell into one of your own empty storehouses, you will be able to collect your opponent's shells.
At the end of the game, the goal is to have the most shells in your storehouse. If you manage to drop your last shell into an empty house on your side of the board, you will get to collect the shells that are opposite that house.Take the shells from the other side of the board and put them in your storehouse.
Step 9: Put the shells in your storehouse.
The game is over after you and your opponent emptied their houses. The shells in your storehouse can be counted to determine a winner.Whoever has the most shells is the winner.
Step 10: You should put your shells into your houses.
Picking up shells in your storehouse can extend Congkak. The house that is closest to your storehouse is where the shells should be placed.Extras should be put into your storehouse if you have more than 49 shells. Some houses may be empty if you have less than 49 shells. If a player drops a shell into a burnt house, the seed goes into his or her opponent's storehouse.
Step 11: Use the normal rules.
Just like you did in the first round, play your next round of Congkak. You don't need to count the shells at the end of each round if you observe all of the same rules. At the end of each round, collect your shells and redistribute them.
Step 12: If one player has no shells left, play rounds in this way.
If one of the players has no shells left, you and your opponent can continue to play Congkak. The winner at the end of the game is the player with the most shells.
