If you've never created an animated GIFs before, you might not know how to do it.If you already know how to start new text posts, you're off to a good start.
Step 1: You can go to your dashboard.
If you have to, log into your account after visiting the home page.As soon as you log in, you will be directed to your dashboard.As soon as you try to navigate to the home page, you should be directed to your dashboard.You can access your dashboard at: https://www.tumblr.com/dashboard
Step 2: A new text post can be created.
The post bar is at the top of the dashboard.Hit the "Text" option once to start a text post.The post bar should be in the center of your dashboard.The "Text" option should be marked with an icon in the post bar.The text post editor should open when you hit the "Text" option.
Step 3: The camera icon is on the screen.
The hidden plus button is beside the post editor if you click in the "Your text here" field.Hit the plus button to open additional options, then hit the camera icon from the new options that roll out.The plus button is to the left of the post editor, and the camera button should be the first option displayed.An "open file" dialog box should pop up when you hit the camera button.
Step 4: Go to the location and select the saved Gif.
You can navigate through your computer's folders to find the exact GIF you want to post.Hit the "open" button if you want to open the GIF.You can double-click the desired GIF to select it instead of hitting the open button.You have to save the file to your computer before you can post it.
Step 5: Wait for the picture to be uploaded.
You will need to wait for it to be uploaded.You should see a blue bar when the time is over.The process should only take a few seconds depending on the size of the GIF and the strength of your internet connection.The primary text box of the post editor should have the GIF in it.
Step 6: If necessary, change the size of the GIF.
You need to use the post editor'sHTML view to make the GIF smaller.The post editor box has a gear icon in it.Hit the downward arrow next to the "Text editor" field to find it.You can choose "HTML" from the possible options.The file name is what you should look for.After you type the file name, swap the "###" for your desired size.It's a good idea to change the size of the GIF to scale.Go back to "Rich text" to view the new size.
Step 7: Any additional information should be filled in.
Right now, you can post the Gif as it is, but it's more common to include a title and tags before you do.You can type your desired title in the "Title" field.If you want to type any desired tag, click in the "#tags" field.The symbol should be used at the beginning of each tag to separate it from the others.You can put additional text in the text box before or after the GIF.
Step 8: The post button can be hit.
If you want to make your post public, hit the "Post" button in the bottom right corner.As soon as you finish the post, you should be able to see the GIF on your Tumblr account.
Step 9: You can find the post you want to reblog.
If you're not already there, you can navigate to the post you want to reblog.You can re-post your posts on your dashboard.Before you can continue, you need to log into your own account.Even if you can view the post without signing in, you won't be able to re-posted anything until you do.
Step 10: You can click on the icon.
The icon looks like two rotating arrows.The editor can be opened by hitting the button.The content of the selected blog post should be displayed above the text box in the reblog post editor.
Step 11: You can click on the camera icon.
The plus () icon is to the left of the editor if you click inside the "Add a caption" text box.Hit the plus icon, then hit the camera icon in the menu of options.The "open file" dialog box should pop up after you hit the camera button.
Step 12: Go to the location and select the saved Gif.
You have to navigate through the directories on your computer to find the file you want to post.Click on the file to highlight it, then hit the "open" button to begin uploading.If you double-click the file without hitting the "open" button, it will start uploading.You have to save the file to your computer before you can post it.
Step 13: Allow the image to be uploaded.
As soon as you open the file, Tumblr should begin uploading.The blueProcessing bar will appear on the screen.The "add a caption" text box of the reblog editor should contain the GIF once the upload is complete.It will usually be finished within a few seconds, but the exact amount of processing time can vary.
Step 14: If you want, you can resize the GIF.
You can change the size of your GIF by changing the view you use.The gear icon can be found in the upper right corner of the editor.The text editor field is at the bottom of the list if you hit this icon.The current option should be changed to "HTML".Your caption should include the file name of the GIF.You can type your desired size instead of typing ###.If you switch back to the "Rich text" view, you can see the newly resized GIF again.
Step 15: Comments or details can be added.
If you want to add text to the post, you'll need to do so now.The "Add a caption" box is where you can type text.You can add tags to the "#tags" field if you so desire.There is no "Title" field to worry about with a reblogged post.
Step 16: You can hit the button.
The "Reblog" button is located in the bottom right corner of the editor once you're satisfied with the way everything looks.This step should make the post public.You should be able to see the original post and your caption on your website.
