If you're new to the Christian, Jewish or Islamic faiths and want to begin praying to God, follow these simple steps.
Step 1: Think about what you will pray for.
Think about what you will pray for. What troubles you in your life? What are you thankful for?How are you going to bring God into your life? What questions do you have? You may want to pray on these things. It will make you feel more comfortable when you go to pray if you know what to say.
Step 2: Talk to a trusted friend or religious adviser.
If you want to talk to God about something, you should consult with your priest, imam, rabbi, or a friend or family member who you trust.Ask them what God might be able to do for you, and what they think about your questions. They could open your eyes to questions you had never thought of.
Step 3: There is a good place to pray.
You will need to find a place and time to pray to God once you are ready to do so.This should be a quiet place where you can devote a good amount of time and concentration to your conversation with God, to show your devotion. If you feel the need to pray quickly in a less than ideal situation, go ahead. You don't need to be special for God to hear you.If you love him in your heart, he will care about you and try to follow you.
Step 4: Get any more items.
Candles, a bible, the remains of a loved one, or other items which are significant to you are some of the items you may want to have when you pray. They should be available and placed respectfully.
Step 5: Plan on praying alone or with others.
Do you prefer to pray on your own or with others? You should not feel constrained by the normal convention of your faith.Whether it's singing your prayers in a church full of people or facing Qibla alone, do what you feel is right in your heart.
Step 6: Show your respect.
Show your respect by being humble. If you can, dress nicely, do not show off your prayer pridefully, and pray on your knees.
Step 7: You can read from the Bible.
You can start by reading a passage from the Bible that has meaning to you.You can show him your devotion by opening your heart to His word.
Step 8: Thank you.
Thanks to God, all of his blessings.Thank him for the things that make you happy or make the world a better place.God's love for his people should be celebrated and appreciated.
Step 9: Ask forgiveness.
Ask God to forgive you for your mistakes.Everybody makes mistakes and nobody is perfect. You will find a way to be better even if you can't admit it.If God forgives you, you will know it.
Step 10: Ask for assistance.
Ask for God's help.He isn't a genie or a granter of wishes, he's just there to guide you on the path you're meant to follow. He can show you the right decisions and ways to improve yourself as a person, as well as the world and people around you.
Step 11: Please pray for them.
Please pray for those who need it the most. You can pray for your family, friends, or strangers.Ask God to help them find their way when they are lost.Don't judge them or their problems, God is the only judge and he will do what's right.People are souls, just as you are, and can be led by God.Don't ask for them to be struck down, just ask that they realize their mistakes and seek forgiveness.
Step 12: Close your eyes.
Whatever way you feel is appropriate, close your prayer.'Amen' is the most common way to say it.
Step 13: Try to say prayers in Hebrew.
Your god will understand you in whatever tongue you speak, but most denominations believe that praying in Hebrew is better. He will understand if you do your best.
Step 14: Pray with others.
Christian prayer is more focused than that of Jews, which is why they prefer to pray in groups. If you can, please pray with others. This can be at a temple, at home, or out with friends.
Step 15: Know the prayers for the rituals.
Instead of individually stated prayers said each day, Jews prefer to say blessings for different times of the day.You will want to know the different prayers and when they should be said, as well as the Holy days which require special prayers.
Step 16: If you prefer, you can pray individually.
If the normal ways of praying are not for you, you can communicate with your god in your own way.Your god will understand if you pray in the Christian method. He cares more about what you do.
Step 17: You should pray at the right times.
You will need to learn and observe the times when Muslims pray. You can ask your imam, look them up, or get a program for your computer or mobile device.
Step 18: You should Orient yourself.
When you pray, you need to face Mecca. This is a part of prayer for Muslims. You need to know what the proper direction is for the area in which you live. You can get an app on your phone or computer that will act as a compass and point you in the right direction no matter where you are.
Step 19: Sit, stand, and move correctly.
Muslims are supposed to sit, stand, bow, and move their hands and bodies during prayer. You may need to do some research to understand these. You can learn from watching fellow Muslims, either out and about or at your mosque.
Step 20: You should open your prayer.
Begin your prayer in the correct way.Christian and Muslim prayer are very different. The standard opening is to say "Allahu Akbar" and then read the Quran.
Step 21: The Surahs should be recited.
If your fellows are nearby you can ask them to recite the Surahs at the appropriate time. You can recite whatever you want if you are alone.
Step 22: The appropriate number of rakats should be performed.
A different number of cycles is prescribed for each day of the week.Try to perform at least that many if you know what the appropriate number is.
Step 23: It is time to close your prayer.
If you want to end your prayers in a different way, turn your head to the right. The angel who records your good deed is on this side. When you turn your head to the left, say, "As Salam Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu'."The angel who records wrongful actions is to this side.Your prayers are over.
Step 24: There are signs that God has heard you.
As you progress through your day, look for signs that God has heard your prayers. He wants to lead you on the right path, so keep your heart open. What is right will be known to you in your heart.
Step 25: Keep your promises if you do right by Him.
You should keep your promise if you promised God that you would work harder for something.God will understand and be pleased if you work as hard as you can.
Step 26: Don't forget to pray regularly.
When you have a big problem, don't just pray.God isn't your band-aid.Show Him the respect that he deserves by praying. You will be great at praying if you get in the habit.
Step 27: Help and pray with other people.
As you pray more, you will want to bring others to understand how much they can benefit from prayer. They may become inspired to come to know Him if you help them, honestly, humbly, and without judgement.
