You can use body butter all over your body to treat and prevent dry skin.Body butter tends to melt in the high heat during the summer because it uses a lot of butters and oils.Whether you are making your own body butter, shipping it out to customers, or trying to keep it in your home, there are a few things you can do to prevent a mess.
Step 1: If you want the highest melting point, try shea butter.
A lot of body butters include shika butter because of its high melting point and the fact that it is great for your skin.Shea butter won't melt until it reaches the temperature of 115 F.Shea butter has a strong smell, but it doesn't have as much fat.
Step 2: The mango butter has a nice smell and is very high in melting point.
One of the highest melting points for mango butter is about 86 F.Adding mango butter as the main ingredient will help keep your body butter solid.Mango butter does not smell like mangos. It is made from mango seeds, so it does smell sweet, but not fruity.
Step 3: For a high melting point, use coconut oil.
The melting point of coconut oil is 78 F, meaning it can stay solid for a long time before turning to liquid. If you can, use coconut oil to replace your main body butter ingredient. The solid form of coconut oil has a lower melting point than the liquified form.
Step 4: If you want your body butter to be more solid, pick beeswax.
Body butter can be made with beeswax since it dries as a solid. It is not a soft butter since it doesn't melt until it reaches a temperature of 142 F.If you want to use beeswax in your body butter, you'll need to melt it down first.
Step 5: When it is time to ship, keep the body butter cold.
Place your body butter in the fridge until it is time to package it up.If you have enough space, you can put the packages in the fridge. The body butter should be kept as cold as possible before it is shipped to give it more time to solidify.
Step 6: Wrap the body butter in bubble wrap.
Wrap a layer of bubble wrap around the package and seal it with packing tape before putting your body butter in it.This will keep the shipment safe during transit and it will also insulate the body butter and keep it cold as it ships. Most packing supply and home goods stores have bubble wrap. You can try a bag for more insulation.
Step 7: Ice packs should be added to the packaging.
The gel ice packs can be activated by cracking them.Ice packs are placed around the package to keep the butter cool.If ice packs increase, be sure to adjust your shipping prices.Gel ice packs can stay cold for a few days, but they won't stand up to high heat or sunlight.Purchase ice packs that are made for shipping food. These can be found online for $3 per ice pack.
Step 8: When the mail arrives, drop your packages off.
Depending on what company you are shipping through, they may have different time periods.Drop off your packages right before the mail gets sent out of the processing facility to keep your body butter from sitting around for longer than it needs to.You can check the website of the shipping company to see when they send out their packages.Parcels and mail are not sent on Sundays by some shipping companies.
Step 9: Pick up your package of body butter.
If you ordered body butter in the mail, keep an eye on the tracking number so you know when it will be delivered. If you open your body butter early, you can prevent it from melting in the sun.If your body butter is left sitting outside in the sun all day, it will melt.If you are shipping your body butter out to customers, you should tell them to take their package immediately to avoid it sitting in the sun.
Step 10: If your body butter is melted, put it in the fridge.
If you open up your body butter, put it in the fridge for about an hour until it gets hard again. If the body butter is whipped, it may shrink to about half the size in its container, but it is still all there. If you want to re-whip your body butter, scoop it out and use an electric mixer to make it fluffy and light again. It is possible to keep your body butter in the fridge for a cooling effect.
Step 11: You can keep your body butter in a dry place.
When storing body butter in your home, store it in a cabinet or pantry that isn't too hot or humid. The bathroom isn't a great place because of all the humidity from baths and showers, so consider keeping your body butter in the kitchen or a closet.Don't store anything that can be affected by the humidity in the bathroom.
Step 12: Don't put your body butter in the sun.
If your body butter ingredients have a high melting point, they won't stand up to the heat from the sun.Try to keep your body butter out of the sun for long periods of time to avoid a messy situation. If you put your body butter back in the fridge, it can be hardened again.
