The FDA approved the use of orthographic lens at night. It is possible to see clearly the following day without the aid of glasses if you have Ortho-k contacts. Some people can go two or three days without wearing glasses or contacts after a single night of wearing ortho-k contacts.Because of the rigid nature of Ortho-k contacts, it is more difficult to insert them correctly.Regular contact lens require more specific maintenance.
Step 1: Take care of your face and hands.
You will want to avoid getting dirt or germs into your eyes since you will be touching your eye directly.Dry your hands with a clean towel after washing them with soap for at least 30 seconds. If you have long hair, tie it up.Dirt and germs can get into your eyes if you have hair in them.
Step 2: Hold your right eye open with your left hand.
If you want your eye to be as open as possible, place your left index finger against your right eyelid.Place your left thumb under your lower lid and pull it down.Keeping your hands steady is important during this procedure. As you put the contact lens in, keep your eye open.
Step 3: Place the lens over your eyes.
Put your contact lens on the tip of your right hand.Lift it with your index finger. If the lens is wet, it should stick to your finger. If you want the lens to be in the center of your eye, you have to move it forward. The center of your eye is the colored section. The amount of light that enters your eye can be adjusted by the iris. The front of your eye is covered by clear, dome-shaped tissue.Light enters your eye and helps it focus light rays.Don't put the lens in your eye.If you don't successfully apply the lens the first time, it's okay to repeat the procedure multiple times.
Step 4: To wet the lens, blink your eye to the center.
The lens should have stuck to the wet surface of your eye as you pulled your finger back. The contact lens should be centered over the curved shape of your eye if you blink several times. If the lens does not center itself when you blink a few times, or if it feels uncomfortable or isn't centered over your eye, you'll need to pull it out and try again. To remove the lens, hold it by the sides and pull it away from your eye.
Step 5: For your next eye, repeat the process.
To open your left eye, you need to use your thumb and index finger, then gently insert the lens over your iris.Put the correct lens in the right eye if it's marked "R" and "L"If you are left handed, you may be able to spread your eyes apart with your right hand.
Step 6: You should go to sleep.
If you want to wear ortho-k for an extended period of time, you should put them in before you go to sleep. You need to sleep for at least 8 hours.
Step 7: Do not use water to clean your glasses.
Although tap, bottled, and distilled water are safe for consumption and often used to clean glasses and standard contact lens, Ortho-k should be kept away from all types of water. If the lenses come in contact with water, and you rest in your eyes for more than 8 hours, you are at risk for a serious infection called Acanthamoeba keratoconjunctivitis. You should store and clean your lens in a sterile solution.Replacement saline solution can be purchased at your eye doctor's office or at any pharmacy, and should have been provided to you when you first purchased your Ortho-k lens.
Step 8: After each use, clean your Ortho-k lens.
When you first purchased your Ortho-k glasses, you should have received a cleaning set from your doctor.A cleaning solution, a saline solution for rinsing and storage, and possibly Ortho-k-lens-specific eye drops are included in the kit.
Step 9: Each contact lens has a cleansing solution.
If you want to get the best effect, rub the solution on both sides with your fingers. For at least 1 minute, rub the solution around. As you rub the lens, the solution should foam.If you want to remove any oil, hair, or skin from your eyes, you need to clean your Ortho-k lens. The provided solution can be used to rinse the cleaning solution off.The cleaning abrasive chemicals will be harmful to your eyes if you don't thoroughly remove the cleaning solution.
Step 10: The lens should be soaked when they are not in use.
The storage case that you have been provided should hold the Ortho-k glasses. After you have cleansed the lenses, gently set them in the solution and screw the top on, you can fill each side of the storage case. This will allow the lens to remain sterile.
Step 11: Do you have eyes that are too big?
If you suffer from nearsightedness, Ortho-k lens may be the best solution. It is possible to treat astigmatism and hyperopia with ortho-k lens. When your eyes fail to focus, it's called astigmatism.Farsighted is a medical term for hyperopia.
Step 12: Pursue orthokeratology before the surgery.
If you need to wear ortho-k for a short period of time, they are less expensive than laser surgery, and may have similar results. The results of orthokeratology are temporary. The treatment does not have a recovery period.Children can have surgery, but only if they are over 18.If you want to try out the Ortho-k lens, your doctor may ask you to complete a trial period before giving you a full prescription.A 1–2 week trial is what this will be.
Step 13: If your child has progressive myopia, you should consider ortho-k.
They can be very effective. For children from 8 to 12 years old who suffer from progressive myopia. For children, ortho-k can improve daytime vision, but it can also prevent or slow the development of adulthood myopia. You should have your child examined by an eye doctor.
