How To Remove a Location from Your Map on Facebook Timeline

You can learn how to remove a check-in location from a post.On the desktop version of Facebook, you can do this.

Step 1: You can open Facebook.

You can go to Facebook in your browser.If you have a Facebook account, this will open the News Feed page.In order to log in, you need to enter your email address and password in the top-right side of the page.

Step 2: Click on the name tab.

It can be found in the top-right corner of the page.You have to do that to get to your Facebook profile page.

Step 3: You can find the location of the post by looking at it.

If you want to remove the location, scroll through your profile page.

Step 4: Click on it.

There is an option in the top right corner.Clicking on it will lead to a drop-down menu.

Step 5: Click on the post you want to edit.

It's in the menu.You can open the post's Edit window by doing that.

Step 6: You can click the location.

The location's name will be at the bottom of the window.Clicking it opens a menu.

Step 7: The location should be removed.

Click in the bottom-right corner of the post window to do so.

Step 8: Click the main window.

The drop-down menu will be closed if you do that.

Step 9: Click it to save.

It is in the bottom-right corner of the window.This removes the location from your post.

Step 10: You can open Facebook.

The Facebook app icon looks like a white "f" on a dark blue background.If you are a registered user, this will open your News Feed page.If you don't have a Facebook account, you need to enter your email address and password.

Step 11: You can tap.

It is in the bottom-right corner of the screen.A menu will appear.There is an option in the top-right corner of the screen.

Step 12: You can tap your name.

It is at the top of the menu.It will take you to your Facebook profile page.

Step 13: You can find the location of the post by looking at it.

If you want to remove the check-in location, scroll down through your profile page.

Step 14: You can tap.

It is in the right corner of the post.The menu will open.

Step 15: You can change the post by tapping it.

There is an option in the menu.The Edit window opens if you do that.

Step 16: Go to check in.

There is an option at the bottom of the window.You may have to scroll down to see it.There is a pink "Check In" icon in the lower-right side of the Edit window.

Step 17: The location should be removed.

To remove the location, tap to the right.The location will be removed from your post immediately.

Step 18: Wait a second, tap Done.

It is in the right corner of the screen.You should skip this step on the phone.

Step 19: Use the tap to save.

This is in the middle of the screen.The location will be removed from the post if you save it.

Step 20: You can open Facebook on a computer.

You can go to Facebook in your browser.You can remove posts from the Check-Ins page, even if you can't remove places from your map.You can enter your email address and password in the upper-right side of the page if you aren't signed in.You can only remove the location from a post that you created, but you can remove other people's location-tagged posts from your timeline.You can't remove Check-Ins from the Facebook mobile app.Remove an individual post's location from the mobile app.

Step 21: Click on the name tab.

It's on the right side of the page.You can open your Facebook profile page by doing that.

Step 22: Go to the check-in page.

Click in the resulting drop-down menu after selecting near the top of your profile page.You can open a page with a list of your check-ins.Select and click if you don't see the menu.

Step 23: You can click on the Cities tab.

Just below the "Check-Ins" heading is where you'll find it.

Step 24: You can select a city.

You can remove a check-in post by clicking the name of the city you want to remove it from.You can see additional cities by selecting the rightmost one.

Step 25: Pick a location.

Click the purple location marker on the map in the middle of the page to remove it.You can open a pop-up window by doing that.If you have more than one post from this city, you'll see a number on the marker.You will need to remove all of the posts from your map in order to do so.

Step 26: The check-in post's date can be found here.

The date is near the top of the pop-up window.This will take you to the post office.Clicking on the upper-right side of the pop-up window will allow you to scroll through different posts in your location.

Step 27: For a post or photo, click.

To the right of the photo is where you want to remove the location.You can click if you didn't create the post with the location.When you click on a photo post that you didn't create, you'll get a drop-down menu.

Step 28: The location needs to be removed.

Post - Click in the drop-down menu, then click the to the right of the location and click.Click the location's name and then click to the right of it.Click the large to the right of the location's name to see the photo.

Step 29: You can repeat this process with other posts.

If you remove every post that has a check-in from a specific location's window, the location will disappear from your Check-Ins page.
