There are many reasons why you might have unwanted stickers on your guitar.There are a number of ways to remove stickers from a guitar.Your guitar should be sticker free in no time if you use commercial products, homemade solutions, or other chemicals.
Step 1: Commercial glues can be used to remove them.
There are several different cleaners, such as Goof Off, that are specifically designed to remove glue.These products do not damage the finish of the material.Both products can be used on wood and plastic.
Step 2: Consider other chemicals.
There are many ways to remove stickers from a guitar.Naphtha is one of the most effective chemicals.Most hardware and general stores carry Naphtha.Lighter fluid, shoe polish, and fuel are some of the products made with naphtha.Naphtha is very dangerous and should be used caution when working with it.Don't use it near a fire.In place of naphtha, you could use acetone.
Step 3: Baking soda and coconut oil should be mixed.
Baking soda and coconut oil can be used to make a solution.In a small bowl, combine coconut oil and baking soda.It may seem strange to use oil to remove a sticker, but you can make a similar solution.A homemade solution is free of harmful chemicals.Adding a few drops of sweet orange essential oil will give you more degreasing power and a pleasant scent.
Step 4: Test the removal of glue.
Pick a small section on the back of your guitar to test the solution before you apply a lot of glue.It is important that it does not tarnish the finish of your guitar.
Step 5: Use your fingernails to remove as much of the sticker as possible.
If you want to remove a bigger sticker, using a larger instrument, such as a CD, may be more effective.If you remove some of the sticker, you'll be able to reach the sticky glue on the back of it.There are paper stickers on the paper surface.The sticky surface on the back of the sticker will be repelled by plastic stickers.It is important to remove as much of the sticker as possible.While attempting to remove the sticker, be careful not to lift the guitar finish.
Step 6: Apply the glue.
Wrap a cloth or paper towel around your hand.Rub the solution on the sticker.The sticker should be covered with a liberal amount of solution.If you are using a spray bottle of glue, spray the cloth or paper towel instead of the guitar.If you don't want the removal in parts of the guitar, this will prevent you from getting it.
Step 7: The sticker needs to be removed.
Continue to remove the sticker from the guitar when using your fingernail or CD.Start by removing the sticker from one corner.You should be able to remove the sticker with little leftover if the adhesive is softened.
Step 8: Resipping should be removed.
Once the sticker is removed, you can use the glue to remove the leftover sticker.Don't scrub the guitar too hard or it will tarnish it.
Step 9: It's a good idea to wipe the solution off.
Some of the solutions listed above can show a film on your guitar.Put some water on a clean cloth and wipe off your guitar's surface.
Step 10: It's time to dry your guitar.
Dry off your guitar with a clean cloth or a portion of your cloth.Continue the steps to remove the remaining glue.To avoid tarnishing the surface, be sure to completely dry your guitar.
