How to Remove Tarnish from Silver Jewellery - My Pandora Bracelet... Why Does My Bracelet Look Tarished?

Around 18 months ago, there was an incident in relation to my bracelet.Since I received the bracelet as a gift from my husband, I didn't think about removing it before swimming with my daughter.

Since I kept my bracelet on my wrist while swimming, it wasn't the first time it came into contact with water.I think I visited the most heavily chlorinated swimming pool in the UK on this day.

The chlorine in the water ruined my bracelet, turning it from bright and shiny to dull and dirty when I got out.I tried everything I could think of to get rid of the tarnish, but it failed miserably.I hid it for a while until my husband noticed I wasn't wearing it.

It's not great, right?I was gutted to have ruined the charms because they were bought for me as a gift to celebrate a special occasion or memory.I didn't know how to remove tarnish from silver jewellery until I read this article.Once you have finished reading my post, you should have a read of it for full instructions and how the process of removing tarnish actually works.

Here are the methods that failed before I explained what I did that worked.

I read that old fashioned cleaning methods used lemon juice and vinegar and thought it was worth a try.).

After 18 months, I could see that the bracelet was starting to look better.I polished it with my silver jewellery cleaning cloth to make it look as good as new.

A million times better!I am happy that I can wear my bracelet again. It's time to start thinking about the future.Disney will always hold a special place in my heart and I would love to have this mickey and mickey safety chain charm. We took our daughter to Disneyland Paris in January and we have a lot of amazing memories from the trip.

This is how I salvaged my damaged bracelet. This process shouldn't be used for jewellery made from antiqued silver or stones that are semi-precious or precious. If your jewellery is worth a lot, you should take it to a professional jeweller.

I don't know where to say thank you, but I want you to know how much I appreciate you. This saved my engagement and wedding ring.

I tried this with my blackened jewelry and it helped, but silver polish worked the best.I thought the necklaces were ruined, but now they are back.So happy.

I never take my ring off as it was a gift from my boyfriend, but your post has given me hope, I took it off after I came out of the hot tub.The fingers and toes crossed.

It looks great after being slung in the back of a drawer for months. Thank you for this top tip.

I was glad I could help.I have been wearing mine since I cleaned it.Still looks good!.

Hello!Try a soft cloth and see if it rubs off the tarnish.I recommend trying to get hold of a silver jewellery cleaning cloth for the best results.

I used bleach to remove mold from the rooftops of my room and damaged my bracelet, but I will follow your instructions.

Thank you so much.I almost cried when I wore mine in the hotpools.

This is an excellent tip.I forgot to remove my rings after using a mould cleaner on the windows.I thought I had ruined them when I found online help. They are as good as new.One happy lady here.

I crossed my fingers.I used hair removal cream and they look terrible so I hope this method rescues them.

After paying 7 pounds for a jewellery cleaner for my mom's bracelet, it did nothing, until my husband found this post and it came up like a new one, thank you so much.

I put the charms into a bowl of solution and let them soak.I used my silver jewellery cleaning cloth to clean them.

The silver sulphide on the bracelet reacts with the aluminum foil. Before adding any solution materials, cover your bowl with it.

It worked.Thank you so much for the tip.I was upset when I forgot to take off my ring before swimming because it was a birthday present from my son.I thought I had ruined the ring when I threw it in the bin.

I found this tip on the internet.I was glad to see this thread because it worked for others, I forgot to take my ring off and went in the hot tub, it is currently soaking, fingers crossed it works.

I can't explain my happiness and gratitude to you.I thought my bracelet had been ruined. It looks brand new to me.It has the same sentimental value as yours.Thank you so much for sharing!

Thank you so much!As I was washing my hair in the shower, I noticed that my bracelet was turning into a brown color.I stepped into the shower.I searched for information on how to clean my bracelet.

I want to say hi to you.Any particular bowl is what the bowl has to be.Glass bowl, steel bowl or silver bowl?I need advice before I try this method.

The bracelet you pictured looked worse than mine. The method of taking pictures is amazing. It took me 2 times. Thanks for the tip.My mother kept her jewelry in zip lock bags.I am going to try the zip lock now that mine are shiny again.

I found this post and am going to wear it on my necklace.I hid it for a year and have tried everything you posted.I am going to do that tomorrow. Is it possible that it works on silver plate?

Hello!I am not sure if it works on silver plate.I hope you have a successful necklace.

This method worked for me before.I left my jewelry in the solution for too long when I used this method a year ago.I forgot about it for a few hours after I got side-tracked.I damaged my jewelry. It turned black.I was sad.I had expensive bracelets.I thought it was a big financial loss when I put it away.I saw a jar of jewelry cleaner for three dollars at Ross Dress For Less yesterday.I wanted to try it.It took most of the black from my silver jewelry.I used a toothbrush to clean the pieces. After brushing my toothpaste, my jewelry pieces look brand new.If you ever do what I did, this is your tip.

Thanks for posting this!I definitely see a difference after doing this tonight.Maybe I should have let it soak a little longer.Something happened when I didn't want to go past 10 minutes.Should I wait a while before trying it again? Will soaking last longer than 10 minutes cause problems?

I am happy this worked for you.I don't know about the results of leaving it in the solution for longer, although one of the other commenters has suggested that her jewellery turned black when she did this, so check out her comment for a great tip on what to do if this happens!

I can't believe how well it worked, thanks so much for the tip.I found two rings in my drawer that I haven't worn in a long time and thought they would have to be thrown away.I tried this and they are back to silver and ready to be sold on eBay.Thanks again.

I have a Pandora bracelet for 5 years and never removed it and tried to clean it with a denture cleaner but it turned out to be dull and dark and I spent hundreds of dollars on a new bracelet.I was very happy to try this and it looks amazing.I have to wear it again, thank you very much.

Keep jewellery away from perfume and chemicals.Milk or washing powder can be used to clean the jewellery. The dry or wet cloth can be used for cleaning.

I have been looking for a way to clean my bracelet for over seven years.crest toothpaste was the only thing that had given any results.I use it to clean my jewelry. After cleaning the costume jewelry, add a coat of fingernail polish. It's not real if you have green spots on your skin.Thank you so much for saving my bracelet!

Thank you so much! After ruining my jewelry with a silver jewelry cleaner, I put it in a box.I ordered more charms and am wearing it with pride.I think I will try this on some silver chains that have dulled. Thanks again! We will keep you posted if you come up with more tricks.

I'm devastated.I made a terrible mistake by leaving my jewelry cleaner for several hours.I cried when I removed it.I didn't research how to clean silver before putting it in the cleaner.I have a bracelet and charms that are so badly damaged that they look like a dark brass or dirty gold color.I hope to see what happens when I try this.I am crossing my fingers.

You can buy a cheap Ultrasonic cleaner from most jewelers. The cleaning fluid that you add to the machine is supplied by them.I only clean the pure silver charms as you can ruin them with special finishes on them. After they are cleaned, I rub them with a silver jewellery cloth and then rub the anti-tarnish side of the cloth on them.Once a year or so, I take my bracelet to a store where they will polish it and give it away for free. The bracelets are of great sentimental value to us, as they are worth a lot of money.I would recommend this method of cleaning the bracelet as I believe it to be safer and gentler on your precious bracelets and I have 3 of them, I admit to being a bit obsessed, but I've been collecting them for over 10 years.

I threw my yellow and black rings in the bin, only to read that my sister had tried your suggestion and it was amazing.

I wore a bracelet while swimming with my children.I didn't know that the water would tarnish the silver.I want to try the cleaning method, but I'm worried about the charms. Are they saving for the solution?

I have a peridot stone on my bracelet, but I am not sure if it will be the same as yours.

The method of washing powder and boiling water helped me with my other silver jewelry.Everything was black and tarnished. You didn't help me.It was hard to save everything with toothpaste and it took me several hours to clean them all with warm water and baby wet wipes, now all of them look like new, but my fingers need a vacation.

Thank you so much. The drain went black while I was cleaning it.I added charms after my mom died so I could keep her from seeing it.I can not thank you enough.

Thank you! When my daughter came out of the pool after wearing her bracelet, it looked like it had been ruined. She was so upset that we came up with a solution that worked well. Her bracelet is new.Thank you again!

I am so shocked that this actually worked.I was wondering what to do with my bracelet for months.Thank you, amazing!!

I wasn't sure if this would work.I didn't have anything to lose as I've kept my very tarnished Pandora bracelet in its box for years.I had given up trying to save it.It was not possible for Kay's jewelry store to restore its beauty.I am very excited to have my bracelet look good.I want to show my husband. Thanks for sharing this tip.You don't know how happy I am to be able to wear my bracelet again.
