In order to change the name of your user folder on your local drive, you need to edit the Profile Image Path string.You will be reverted to your old name if you don't change the Profile Image Path.
Step 1: On your computer, log into a different administrator user.
It's not possible to change the name of your user folder when you're in the same account.To change a user account's name, you have to log in from a different admin account.
Step 2: Go to the Start menu.
Click the Windows icon in the lower- left corner of your screen to open it.
Step 3: On the Start menu, click This PC.
The list of connected drives and devices will be opened in a new window.This option can be named on some versions of Windows.The Start menu can be searched by typing in the search box.
Step 4: Click on your hard drive.
Your folder is on this hard drive.Most computers show your system hard drive as "" on the screen.You can find your Windows folder on a different drive if you have more than one internal storage drive.
Step 5: Click the Users folder.
Step 6: Click on the user folder you want to change.
This will open a menu.
Step 7: Select Rename.
You can change the name of the user folder with this option.
Step 8: The user folder has a new name.
You can change the user's name or add a new one.
Step 9: You can enter on your keyboard.
This user folder's new name will be saved.
Step 10: You can open the run window.
You can either find and click on the Start menu or use the Win+R shortcut to open it.
Step 11: Go to the Run window.
Click the text field next to "Open:" if you want to type.
Step 12: In the Run window, click OK.
This will open a new window.
Step 13: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE is next to the icon on the left panel.
It will show a list of the folder's sub-folders.
Step 14: Next to SOFTWARE is the icon.
Step 15: The icon is next to Microsoft.
Step 16: The icon is next to Windows NT.
Step 17: The icon is next to CurrentVersion.
Step 18: The icon is next to Profilelist.
Each user account has a different folder on your computer.
Step 19: You can find the correct sub- folder for the user you want to rename.
The Data column is next to the Profilelist folder.The folder directory should be indicated by the data column.The data column should read C:UsersUSER1 if your user account's name is USER1.
Step 20: Click on the ProfilePath image file.
This will open a new window.
Step 21: Under the Value data heading, click and edit the usernames.
The user account name should be the same as the user folder on the system drive.If you change your user folder's name, the directory here will still read C:UsersUSER1.It should be changed to C:/Users/USER0
Step 22: Click OK if you don't want to.
Your changes will be saved by this.You can log out of this account and log into your original account with your new name.
