A great way to manage your home network is to name your PC.It is possible to identify traffic on your network by setting up a PC name.It is now easier to change your PC's name with Windows 10.
Step 1: The settings menu can be opened.
The settings menu in Windows 10 is easy to understand.Click Start if you want to open it.There are 13 different categories available to you.
Step 2: The system settings menu can be opened.
Click the System option from the list.There are 11 different menu options down the left-hand side of the window.Click About.It should be the last option on the bottom.
Step 3: Rename your PC.
The Rename PC button should be at the top of the new page.A small box should appear if you click this button once.The current PC name should be listed above the input box.This is where you can enter a name that identifies the PC.If the PC is being used to stream media, like movies and music, to other devices in your home, something like Home-Media or Media-server may be a good name.The name that you choose will be the name discovered.There are no spaces in your PC name.
Step 4: It's time to restart the PC.
Click the Next button once you have entered a new name.If the PC name is approved, you will be asked if you want to restart your PC in order for the changes to take effect.After the PC restarts, it will be renamed if you click the restart now button.Click restart later if you want to skip the restart process.
Step 5: The control panel can be opened.
A small box will open in the lower left-hand corner of the screen if you press and hold the Windows key.There should be a box inside.Hit Enter on your keyboard when you type in control.
Step 6: The System settings can be opened.
The Control Panel is one of the options you should be looking at.The System and Security option can be found in the upper left-hand corner of the window.
Step 7: The current PC name can be viewed.
There are a number of different menu options.Under System should be an option that says See the name of the computer.A new page should appear if you click this.Basic information about the PC can be found on this page.
Step 8: Look for settings for the computer.
The current name of the PC should be displayed to the right under the heading.There is a blue change settings button to the left of the PC's name.Click here to continue.
Step 9: Rename the computer.
There should be a small window with different tabs at the top.The one that is open is the one you want.There is a button at the bottom of the white box.Click the button.A small window will pop up with the input box highlighted.The input box will have a title above it.This box contains a new name for your PC.The OK button is in the lower right-hand corner of the window.
Step 10: You can restart the PC.
You will be told that you need to restart the PC before changes can take effect, and you should save and close all your programs before the restart begins.Click OK again, then click the Close button in the other window.You will be given a choice of buttons.The PC will be renamed when you restart it.If you want to keep doing what you're doing, you can restart later.
