Getting a new stove is exciting.Think about the new things you will be able to cook. The brand new appliance will make your kitchen look great. It is not difficult to install. You can do all of the work yourself with a wrench. If you hook it up correctly, your new oven will be installed safely.
Step 1: Use a ruler or tape measure to measure the stove space.
Take a ruler or tape measure and stretch it across the width of the gap in the counter space where your stove sits.Measure the length from the wall to the counter.Measure the height of your stove.Pick a stove that fits neatly into place if you write down your measurements. If you have an old stove owner's manual, flip through it to see if you can find the measurements. You can look up the make and model online.
Step 2: For a simple option, replace your stove with the same size and type.
If you choose a stove that is the same size as your old one, it should fit into place without any problems.Make sure the measurements match. The most common size for a stove is 30 inches wide, 36 inches high, and 25 inches deep. All you need to do is choose a new one that matches the specifications of your old one.You should choose the same type as well.Don't choose a new gas stove if you have an electric one.
Step 3: If your stove is electric, choose an appropriate power cord.
You need to purchase one that fits your new stove because it doesn't come with a power cord.If you have a 3 or 4-prong plug, look at the receptacle in your kitchen.Pick a cord that will fit into your new stove by checking the product description. If you don't know if you can re-use your old stove's power cord, double check.
Step 4: Don't switch from electric to gas without a professional.
If you want to switch from an electric stove to a gas one, you need an electrician to modify the electrical circuit and a plumbing company to install the gas line.Don't try to do these jobs on your own so you can be sure they're done rightThe installation of a gas line could have consequences. To be safe, leave it to the pros.
Step 5: The oven is against the wall.
Get a good grip on the upper lip by opening the oven door.Pull the oven away from the wall so you can see the wiring and lines in the back.Don't yank or jerk the stove.Move it out of the way.The stove can be moved from side to side.
Step 6: If the stove has a gas valve, shut it off.
Pull the plug out of the wall outlet from behind the stove. You can find the gas line on the wall if you have a gas stove. To shut off the gas supply, turn the valve to the right. If you want to make sure the gas supply valve is fully shut off, turn it as far as you can.You do not want to have a gas leak while you are working. If you have an electric stove, the gas lines will not be shut off or disconnected.
Step 7: If you have a gas line on the stove, use a wrench to remove it.
The back of your stove is where the gas line connects.Turn the wrench clockwise to loosen and connect it.You can connect the gas line to the new stove by leaving it nearby. You can dispose of your stove after it is disconnected.
Step 8: If you want to get rid of your old stove, contact a junk removal company.
The proper disposal of appliances like stoves is important. If you want to dispose of your stove at home, you can contact a junk removal company that will come to your home to pick it up.Some junk removal companies will pick up your old stove for free. You can find recycling centers near you if you are in the US.
Step 9: Attach the material to the stove but unpackage it.
The plastic wrapping on your stove needs to be removed so you can connect it.The rack should not slide around while you install the stove.Once you are all set up, you can easily remove the rest of the packaging.
Step 10: The gas line needs to be connected to the stove.
There is a gas valve on the back of the stove.Use a wrench to tighten the gas supply line.Turn the control valve to the left to turn the gas supply on.
Step 11: To check for leaks, brush soapy water on the gas line connections.
Add a few drops of dish soap to a small cup of warm water. It is nice and soapy if you mix the water with a paintbrush.Put a thin layer of soapy water on the ends of the gas line.If there are bubbles, that means there is a leak and you need to tighten the connection.
Step 12: Attach the stove to the wall outlet.
Attach the stove's plug to the wall outlet to supply power to it.Then, slide the stove into place. If you want, you can attach felt furniture pads to the corners on the bottom of the stove so it doesn't scratch the floor.
Step 13: To make sure the stove is working, turn it on.
To make sure the stove has power, check the clock and electronics. If you have an electric stove, turn on a burner. It may take a few moments for the gas lines to flush and provide gas to the burner, so if you have a gas stove, test one of the burners. You are all set if the stove is working. When you start the burner, you should hear a clicking sound. The stove might not have power if you don't.Make sure it is plugged in.
Step 14: The access panel is on the back of the stove.
The access panel is on the backside. It is usually located in the center or bottom corner.Remove the screw holding the panel in place with a screwdriver. The screws on the stove may need to be removed.Make sure you don't lose the screws. If you want to connect the wire to your stove, you should not plug it into the wall outlet.
Step 15: The terminal block has lower screws.
Look for the 3 terminal blocks in the access panel. If you want to connect your wires, you have to remove the lower screws. These screws are very important. You should place them somewhere where you won't lose them.
Step 16: The wires need to be moved into the access panel.
The stove wire needs to be snaked up into the access panel.Make sure the leads are in line with the terminal block.Make sure your wire isn't stretched too tight.
Step 17: Attach the wires to the terminal block.
Attach the center wire to the terminal. The remaining leads should be placed next to the remaining terminal blocks. To hold the wires in place, replace and tighten the screws. The left and right leads are not the same. You need to connect the center wire to the neutral terminal block. It could be a fire hazard if it weren't for that.
Step 18: Plug in the stove and turn it on to test it.
Attach the screws to hold the access panel in place.Plug the other end of your stove's wire into the wall outlet. To make sure it is heating up and functioning, turn on the range.
