How To Set Default Programs in Windows 8

There are three ways to set the default program for Windows 8.It is possible to make a specific program a default program.The default program can be changed for a specific file type.You can change the associated program in the file context menu.

Step 1: Go to the Start screen.

The Start screen can be opened by pressing the Windows key on your keyboard.If you use a touch screen, you can open the Charms menu by touching Start from the right edge of the screen.

Step 2: You can find the Default Programs utility.

In the search field, type the default program and then press Enter.

Step 3: Touch the Default Programs to open it.

Step 4: You can find a program you want to use.

In the Programs sidebar, you can find a program you'd like to set as a default by clicking or touching it.

If you're using a touch screen, hold the file icon until the context menu opens.

Step 16: Click or touch to open, then choose the default program.

Step 17: You can choose a new default program.

Click More options if you don't see the program you want to use.Click OK if you're done.If you want to change the default for this specific file, but not other files of this type, you have to use this app.
