How To Set Up a Xbox 360 Controller on Project64

If you want to use the Project64 program on a Windows computer, you need to set up an Xbox 360 controller. You must have either a hard-wired or a wireless controller for this to work.

Step 1: Plug your console in.

Remove the power source from the console to prevent it from accidentally connecting to your controller.

Step 2: Make sure you have a wired controller.

The controller on Project64 must have a non-removable wire as its power source. You can't use a plug and charge cable here.If you want to use a wireless controller, you'll have to buy a unit from Microsoft.Make sure that the receiver is from Microsoft and not a third-party retailer.

Step 3: Plug your controller into the computer.

The end of the controller's wire needs to fit into a computer port.Plug the receiver into the port and look for a green light. If the receiver's light doesn't show up, you can try a different port.

Step 4: Wait for the drivers to finish.

Windows will look for and download software to help your computer use the controller. After a few minutes, you'll get a notification that your controller is ready to use.You will need an internet connection to start.

Step 5: You need to connect your controller.

If you are using a wired controller, skip this step.Press the circular button on the wireless receiver and hold the button for a second to turn the controller on.The controller is connected to the computer when the button stops blinking.

Step 6: The project is open.

The Project64 app icon has a green stylized "PJ" next to a red "64" icon.

Step 7: Click on the option that interests you.

The window has a tab at the top.A menu will appear.

Step 8: Click on the controller you want to use.

It is at the bottom of the menu. The controller settings window is opened by this.

Step 9: There is a controller's image.

If you see a large image of a controller in the middle of the page, you need to restart Project64.If Project64 doesn't work, restart your computer and try again.

Step 10: The controls need to be changed.

To map an action to a different button on the controller, click the action's name to the left of the keyboard button, then press the button that you want to use for that action.

Step 11: You can save the controller configuration.

To enter a name for the configuration, click at the top of the window. You'll be able to load the settings by re- opening the menu, clicking and double-clicking the saved settings file.If you want to use the controller's specific controls, you should save it as a profile.
