An aerial yoga hammock is a piece of fabric that is suspended in the air on both ends. You need to tie a knot and attach a carabiner to both ends of the fabric to set up an aerial yoga hammock. You just have to clip the carabiner to the ceiling mount or beam. You can have your hammock set up in no time if you follow the instructions.
Step 1: Take the material from both ends of the fabric.
Place your fingertips on the left and right edge of the fabric as you lay the hammock flat.Start to walk up the fabric with your fingers. When you gather the material on both ends of the hammock, it should look like a loose rope.
Step 2: The end of the fabric should be wrapped around your arm.
2 feet (61 cm) of fabric is hanging over your arm if you drape one end of it around your forearm.Wrap the short end of your hand around your arm and pull it across your chest. If you followed the steps correctly, the hammock fabric should be wrapped around your forearm.
Step 3: Use your free hand to grab the long end of the fabric.
Hold onto the arm that is wrapped around the long end of the fabric. The fabric needs to be held to create a loop.
Step 4: Take the wrapped fabric off of your arm.
While still holding onto the long end of the hammock fabric, pull down the fabric that is wrapped around your arm.A knot-like loop should be created where your arm used to be.If you pull the loop, you will have to untie it before it is secured.
Step 5: Go through the loop with a carabiner.
There are hammocks suspended in the air.You can purchase carabiners online or at a hardware store if you didn't get them with your yoga hammock. You will need 4 carabiners.2 for each end of the hammock and 2 that attach to the mount, hook, or beam near the ceiling.
Step 6: The short end of the fabric should be stuck through the loop.
Take the short, tail end of the fabric that is hanging and pull it up through the loop that you just created. This will make sure the knot at one end of your hammock doesn't come undone.
Step 7: To tighten the knot, pull both ends of the fabric.
Grab the knot with one hand and grab the long end of the fabric with the other.Pull back on the long end to tighten the knot.To tighten the knot, repeat the process with the shorter tail end.The carabiner needs to be secured around the knot.
Step 8: Make a knot on the other side of the hammock.
Attach a carabiner to the other end of your hammock. You should tie a knot and attach a carabiner to both ends of the fabric when you're done.
Step 9: Attach your mount or hook with a piece of wood.
If your mount or hooks are not drilled directly into ceiling joists or solid wood, they won't be able to support your weight.A portion of your ceiling should be at least 8 feet off the ground and made of solid wood.If you have a drop ceiling, you may have to hang your hammock from a secured beam or rod.If you don't know if your ceiling can handle the load, a contractor can tell you.
Step 10: To mark the bolt holes, hold the mount or hook against the ceiling.
If you want to hang your hammock against the ceiling, you need to use a step ladder. To mark where the holes are, use a pencil.
Step 11: The ceiling should be marked for the other mount or hook.
You should be able to see the original marks on the other side of the ceiling hook or mount. The mount needs to be held against the ceiling and marked where the holes need to go.The second set of holes should be parallel to the first set.
Step 12: You marked the holes.
The bolts that came with your hammock mount are the same size as the drill bit.Press the bit against the marks that you made and pull the Trigger of the electric drill. This will make holes for your bolts. You should wear a face mask and eye protection as you drill to prevent debris from falling into your eyes or mouth. You can find the bolt size in the instruction manual.
Step 13: Attach the mount or hooks to the ceiling.
If you are using a mount, hold the mount against the ceiling and push the threaded end of the bolts through it.Press the threaded end of the hook into the hole you created.Once the bolts or hooks are screwed into the ceiling, turn them clockwise. If you are using bolts, use a wrench to tighten them.Pull down the hooks to make sure they are secure.
Step 14: If you didn't install hooks, hang the ropes over the beam.
The yoga hammock ropes should have loops in them. The carabiner should be on the loop at the end of the rope. Then drape the rope over the beam or pole so that both ends hang the same amount. The ropes should be hung apart.
Step 15: If you have them, push your ropes through the hooks.
Attach a carabiner to the end of the ropes if you use hooks or a ceiling mount. You can thread the rope through the carabiner in the ceiling hooks. The ends of the rope should hang the same length.
Step 16: The end of the rope should be Threaded through the loop in the ropes.
You can thread the carabiner through one of the loops in the rope by taking the end and attaching it.Attach the rope to the hook, mount, or beam with a knot created by pulling down on the carabiner.Go over to the other rope and do the same thing. The slipknot will prevent the ropes from coming undone.
Step 17: Attach the carabiners from your hammock to the rope.
Attach the ends of the hammock to the carabiners. The yoga hammock needs to be suspended in the air.
Step 18: Make sure the hammock is secured by sitting on it.
The hammock should be able to hold your weight.Attach your hammock to a beam in your house if you feel secure or if the hooks come out.Don't use the hammock until you know it's secured or you could hurt yourself.
