How To Sleep in a Bathtub

If you have house guests or are staying in a hotel room with more people than there are beds, you may be able to sleep in the bathtub. It might not be that bad with a little planning and the right supplies.

Step 1: Measure the inside of the tub.

If you have to sleep with your body contorted into a pretzel, lay down in the bathtub and see how well you fit.In order to be comfortable for an entire night of sleep, the bathtub must be long enough for you to stretch out in and wide enough that your shoulders aren't cramped and you can keep your spine in alignment. The floor may be a better option if the tub isn't big enough.Sleeping on the floor can be good for your back.If you want to stay in one position all night, make sure you have enough room to sleep on your back and roll over onto your side.

Step 2: It should be dry and clean.

Since people will be using the bathtub for showers, you need to make sure it is dry before making your bed.If possible, don't use the bathtub before bed.If the tub is still wet, you can wash it with a towel.A hairdryer can be used to dry the tub.If you clean the tub, you won't get soap on your blankets and pillows.

Step 3: It's time to clear away the stuff.

If you have a bar of soap fall on your face, you don't want it on the floor.Remove personal care products (shampoo, conditioner, soap, body wash, lotion, etc.).It could be that you accidentally knock on the floor while you sleep.Make sure you replace other people's belongings in the morning.

Step 4: Get sleeping supplies.

If you want to sleep on the tub's hard surface, you will need to lay down several layers of padding. You should find as many pillows and blankets as you can.The top layer of a sleeping bag is a great option.

Step 5: You can build a bed inside the tub.

You can make yourself more comfortable with a little effort.Place the blankets along the bottom of the tub. This will make a mattress for you to sleep on.If you want to cushion your body from the tub's surface, make sure your padding reaches up the sides. You can put a pillow at the end of the tub.If you want to have a good night's sleep, you should use one pillow under your head and place another between the end of the tub and the top of your skull.

Step 6: Don't cover yourself.

Put over the top of you with a blanket or two.Since you don't know if the bathroom will be warm or cold, have several layers handy.A sleeping bag can be used as both a cover and a pad.

Step 7: Personal items can be brought into the bathroom.

It is important that you have what you need for the night and morning. If you want your clothes to stay dry, put them on a shelf or somewhere that will keep them dry.You can find an outlet for your phone. If you want to use your phone as an alarm in the morning, you should be able to reach it from the tub.You can bring anything you use to entertain yourself, like a laptop or a book.

Step 8: Place your base with your guests or roommates.

Everyone can agree on how to deal with a situation if there is only one bathroom.Someone is going to turn on the shower on you in the morning. If someone else needs to use the bathroom during the night, you should decide what to do.If you agree on what time is reasonable for you to wake up and get out of the bathtub, others can use it for showers in the morning.

Step 9: Go to sleep.

It is time to get in the tub and start sleeping.Put your head on the opposite side of the tub.If you forget where you are and sit up, you won't get bumped on the faucet. If you need to block out background noise to sleep, use the fan.The lights should be turned out.If you think you might wake up confused, use a nightlight. It will help your roommates if you startle them if they forget you are there.
