How To Soften Day Old Bagels, Bare Feet in the Kitchen, and How to Revive them are all on Livestrong.com.

In the interest of never tossing an awesome bagel just because you couldn't eat them fast, here's my little hack for steaming day old bagels at home, using just a sprinkling of water!

While in Canada, we have eaten more pastries, bagels, and other awesome baked goods than I can remember.

The Mont-Royal neighborhood of Montreal has two prominent bagel shops. The bagels are piping hot and are served 24 hours a day.

Locals and tourists debate which is the best, so naturally I wanted to sample both.Twice.

You never know when you'll crave bagels again, so you buy more bagels and eat them out of hand.

When you first get your bagels out of the shop, they are absolutely amazing; piping hot, nutty and crisp on the outside, and slightly sweet inside.

They are not as similar to the New York style bagels I have eaten before.Montreal bagels are not as doughy as their American counterparts.

I had a hard time choosing a favorite.I liked the hint of sweetness with the Fairmount bagel, but the slightly thinner St-Viateur was my favorite out of the oven.

If you are going to keep them overnight, I found that the bagels were softer the next day.Go back to the shop in the morning if you are in Montreal. It is worth the walk.

I brought bagels back to the loft to enjoy with breakfast the next morning after we bought bagels.

They were sadly lacking in chewiness 24 hours later. It was easy to fix for me.

Is it possible that they came back to the same fresh-out-of-the-oven-awesomeness?It was very close.

We decided that moving to Montreal for the ability to add more carbs in our life really could be a reality after finishing the bagels. It was a lovely dream.

Nicole, just long enough to eat it.It isn't going to make bagels last any longer if you use this method.

It's better to sprinkle a stake bagel with water and bake it at 350.Microwaving doesn't get the right texture.Try it!

No.This made it very hard to chew.I couldn't bite through it.I like pulling away from the bagel with my mouth because it made teeth marks, but it was soft and I bit down on it.Not the right texture. It isn't a good method.

That is very strange, Skyla.I reheated the bagels this way and they worked well.It was a last-ditch attempt to save a bagel, but it didn't work for you.

Thank you so much for the hack.I toast the bagel immediately after the micro wave trick because I don't think it regains the original texture that you feel in your mouth and tongue.!

It isn't the same as when bagels are freshly made. This method makes a bagel soft again and it sounds like toasting it made it perfect for you.
