A project that can be fun for children and plant lovers alike is to root jasmine plants in a clear glass jar filled with water.Propagation success in water is lower than in a sterile soil mixture.

One of the easiest plants to grow is jasmine, which makes it more likely to succeed than other shrubs and vines.

The jar should be filled one-half to two-thirds full with clean water. The jar should hold at least 1 quart.

In the spring or early summer, cut a branch from a jasmine plant.Green wood is the current season's growth.

The branch should be cut into a section. The bottom cut should be at a 45 degree angle. The bottom and top cut should be just below a leaf.

The leaves should be removed from the top of the cutting.Roll the bottom of the cutting in the gel.

Put the cutting into the jar on the windowsill.Fresh water can be replaced weekly with the water in the jar.

The cutting needs to be left in the jar until it has developed a root system that extends at least 2 inches from the cutting.
