When not in use, aluminum can become tarnishing. To clean pots and pans, use soap and water, then apply an aluminum polish or a paste made from cream of Tartar.Start with a clean piece.Sand the metal, apply a cutting compound, and use a buffing tool to polish it.
Step 1: The cream of tartar should be mixed with water.
Cream of Tartar, also known as potassium bitartrate, is a byproduct of wine-making and can be used as a cleaner. To make a paste, mix equal parts cream of tartar and warm water.
Step 2: The product should be applied to the aluminum.
Use a soft cloth to work the cream of tartar onto the aluminum.Use small circular motions to apply the product. If you want to clean an aluminum pot or pan, simply boil the water and add a small amount of cream of Tartar.Allow the mixture to boil for 10 minutes, then dump out the cream of Tartar mixture, and rinse it off.
Step 3: The aluminum needs to be washed with water.
You will need to rinse the item after applying the cream of Tartar.Pay special attention to crevices, handles, edges, and the like if you want to remove all of the cream of tartar.
Step 4: The item needs to be dry.
To dry the item after rinsing, use a microfiber towel. If not dried completely, the drips will leave water marks.
Step 5: Put aluminum polish on.
To apply aluminum polish, use a soft cloth.Use small, circular motions to wipe it on.Do not use aluminum polish on cookware, even if you plan to wash it, as it should never be eaten.
Step 6: The polish should be removed with a soft cloth.
After applying aluminum polish to your item, wipe the aluminum off with a soft cloth. To remove all traces of the aluminum polish, pay special attention to handles, crevices, and etchings.
Step 7: Put the item in a bag.
buff the item to restore the shine after you remove all the polish. To do your buffing, choose a clean cloth.Use the same motions you used to apply and remove the aluminum polish.
Step 8: Clean sheet metal is what you should start with.
Use soap and water to clean the metal.Dry the item with a soft cloth.
Step 9: Wear protective eye-wear.
It's important to protect your eyes and face from machines.Dust and polish can get into your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Step 10: The metal needs to be sanded.
If you want to get a mirror finish on your car, boat, or aluminum panels, you're going to need to do some sanding.Start with a medium grit sandpaper and work your way up.It is possible to sand the aluminum by hand, but using a sanding machine will make your job much easier.Give the entire area a good sanding with 400-grit sandpaper.Give the area another good once-over by using an 800-grit sandpaper. If you want to get a thorough polish, start with 120 grit and move up to 250, 300, 400, and finally 600-grit.
Step 11: You can apply a cutting compound to your buffing tool.
Before buffing, apply a cutting compound. The cutting compound protects the metal. To find out which compound to use for your project, read the instructions on the package. If you want to get a high shine and smooth finish, you can start with a firm wheel and brown compound, then choose a softer one and a red compound.
Step 12: To buff the aluminum, use a rotating buffing tool.
A cotton buffing tool works well.To buff the metal, use circular motions.Caution is required when using the buffing tool.
Step 13: Any traces of compound should be wiped off.
To remove compound from aluminum, use a soft, clean cloth.Wait until a mirror finish is achieved.
Step 14: The aluminum can be washed with dish soap and water.
Add a small squirt of dish soap to a rag or sponge after you wet your aluminum. The sponge or rag can be used to clean off dirt. The aluminum has something attached to it.
Step 15: The toothbrush can be used to clean the aluminum.
If the item you are cleaning has etchings or other designs, you can use a soft-bristled toothbrush or scrubber.
Step 16: Put the item in a container and wash it thoroughly.
To clean off soap or debris, rinse the item under the faucet. If it's too big to fit in the sink, you can dunk it in a bucket of clean water or spray it with a hose.
