Whether you're trying to make a creative dessert or prank one of your office mates at work, suspending a solid object in Jello is a fun, easy activity.Start with 1 packet of Jello.Place the object on the Jello.Put 2 more packets of Jello in the mix.Pop the mixture out onto the plate and serve.
Step 1: The water should be poured into a large glass bowl.
Bring 1 cup of water to boil in a kettle or pot.The water should be removed from the flame when it starts bubbling.Then put it in a large bowl.The water should be poured gently so it doesn't splash.While handling the pot, use an oven mitt.About 1/3 of the bowl should be filled with this amount of water.Double the Jello serving if the bowl is larger than this.This recipe is for small packets of Jello.170 g.If you use large packets, they can hold 12 ounces.Instead of boiling (340 g), boil 2 cups.
Step 2: Stir in a small packet of Jello mix.
The Jello mix should be added after you pour the boiling water.Stir the mixture with a long spoon or whisk.Continue stirring until the mix is dissolved.The water is hot.Be careful with the bowl.
Step 3: Stir the mixture for 2 minutes after adding 1 cup of cold water.
Stir the water at the same time.For at least 2 minutes, mix everything together.The Jello won't be as firm if you stir for less time.The Jello needs to be very firm to support an object.
Step 4: The Jello should be left in the refrigerator for 4 hours.
The Jello has plenty of time to cool and firm up so it supports the weight of the object.Place the bowl out of the way so no one can knock it over.If there is food in the fridge that could transfer to the Jello, cover the bowl with plastic wrap.Leave the Jello uncovered while it's setting if not.Don't take it out early because the Jello needs to be very firm for this to work.Don't use the speed-setting tricks to make Jello set faster.The Jello won't be strong enough.
Step 5: If you plan on eating the Jello, wash the object you are using.
The object should be washed with soap and warm water.Remove any suds by rinsing it off.The Jello is a common workplace prank.To look like a lake, try using plastic fish and blue Jello.A fun twist to this project is the addition of toys and action figures.If an object is heavier than a stapler, make sure it sits on top of the Jello rather than poking through.If you are going to eat the Jello, don't use a sharp object that could hurt someone.If you are serving the Jello to children, be careful.They can't swallow large objects.If there are small pieces that break off, check the objects you use.Remove them before putting them in Jello.
Step 6: Put the object on top of the Jello.
Remove the Jello from the fridge after 4 hours.Put the object on the Jello.Take a few minutes to make sure it doesn't sink.If the object starts to sink, put the Jello back into the fridge for another hour.The object may be too heavy if it keeps sinking after that.Use a different object.
Step 7: Jello can be made in a separate bowl.
If you follow the same procedure, you can use 2 packets instead of 1.Add 2 cups of cold water to the boiling water and stir for 2 minutes.
Step 8: The second batches of Jello should be poured over the object.
Pour slowly.The water will splash out if you dump it in.Use the new Jello to cover the object.If you use a large bowl and it doesn't cover the object, try adding another Jello packet or 2 and using more water.You should add a cup of hot and cold water to each packet.
Step 9: The Jello should be in the fridge for 4 hours.
Place the bowl back into the fridge after pouring the second Jello.The Jello should be set for another 4 hours.The Jello needs to be very firm for this trick.Don't take it out early.If there is food in your refrigerator that could transfer to the Jello, cover the bowl with plastic wrap.
Step 10: The plate should be on top of the bowl.
Remove the bowl from the fridge after 4 hours.Put the serving plate on top of the bowl.
Step 11: The bowl needs to be flipped upside down.
Hold the plate and bowl together.Place the plate on top of the bowl.While flipping them, press the plate and bowl together tightly.The Jello could spill all over the place if you don't press down.
Step 12: The Jello has a bowl on it.
The Jello is stuck in the bowl.Pull the bowl up and let the Jello slide out.If the Jello isn't coming out, shake the bowl.If the Jello is stuck, place it in a larger bowl of water.The water should not flow into the Jello.Try to get the Jello out of the bowl by sitting it for a few minutes.
Step 13: The Jello can be served.
There is an object suspended in the air.Everyone can see your creation if you place the plate on a table.When you're ready to serve the Jello, put it back into the refrigerator.
