How To Tie Curtains in a Knot

It can be difficult to arrange curtains in a room.A basic knot is a quick and easy way to shorten your curtains. If you want to tie back your curtains with a knot, use a drapery tie and wall hooks.

Step 1: The curtain fabric needs to be put into a column.

The curtains should be attached to a rod.A thick column of fabric can be formed by crunching curtain material to one side.Remove the cords and tie-backs from the curtain at this point.

Step 2: The curtain should be loopy around the column.

Hold the middle portion of the curtain with one hand, then use the other to hold the outer edge.Wrap this thin portion of fabric behind the rest of the bunched fabric and loop it back around the front. The knot will only be created by wrapping 1 layer of fabric around the curtains.

Step 3: The loose end of the fabric should be secured with a knot.

Stick the bottom corner of the curtain behind the wrapped section. To make a sturdy knot, be sure to tuck the curtain completely.

Step 4: You can create a loop with the line on your right.

You can tie your curtains in a comfortable knot if you leave at least 4 to 5 in between the loop and the end of line B.Depending on the size of your cord, the loop only needs to be about 2 in (5 cm) long.If you are using a tasseled cord, make sure that there is at least 2 to 3 in between the end of the loop and the top of it.You will use the loops of the bow to hold your curtains back.

Step 5: Line A should be wrapped around the loop 4-5 times.

Wrap the loop in a clockwise direction as you work.Make sure the left end of line B is still sticking out.

Step 6: Make it secure by stringing line A through the loop.

Take the end of line A and put it in the loop that is on the left side of the knot.Pull the end of line A through the loop to return it to its original position.

Step 7: Go through the 5 coils of the cord with a new loop.

Bring line A out from the other end of the knot by Tucking it to the right. If you pinch the section of cord into a loop shape, both sides of the knot will look the same.Try to make both loops in the same size.

Step 8: To tighten the central coils, tug on both loops.

Pinch on the opposite loops for each side of the cord using both hands.Pull on the loops until the inner coil tightens.Pull the ends of lines A and B to make sure they are even.

Step 9: Attach the loops to the hooks.

There are 2 hooks on either side of the curtains. The hooks should be positioned on either side of the curtains.Keep the hooks in place by stringing your side loops over them. You can ignore this if you can't place wall hooks near your curtains.
