How To Tie Curtains

When you want to block out the light, curtains are great.Tiebacks can be used to hold your curtains open if you want to let the sun into your room.

Step 1: Tiebacks should match the design of your curtain.

There are nearly endless styles of tiebacks. If your curtains are a solid color, you can choose between tiebacks that are the same color or a complimentary shade. If you have patterned curtains, choose tiebacks that have at least one color in them. You can buy tiebacks at any home furnishings store.Depending on the style you choose, they can be as low as $3.00 and as high as $25.00.

Step 2: The curtains need to be closed to cover the window.

The curtains should be wider than the window so they drape nicely. It's okay if your curtains don't cover the entire window if you're using them as decorative panels. You can create a look that you like.Make sure your curtains have enough fabric so they don't look bare when you tie them back.

Step 3: The drape of your curtains can be changed.

The curtain tiebacks are located between halfway and 1/3rds of the way down the curtain.Depending on how the curtains look and where you can reach to adjust them, you may need to place tiebacks on very tall windows.Lower the tiebacks to make them more accessible.

Step 4: To hold your curtain tiebacks, install two 4 inch (19mm) cup hooks.

One hook is needed for each side of the curtains. The hooks are easy to screw into the wall.Simple hooks can be purchased at any hardware store for around $0.50.You may need a larger hook for heavy tiebacks. The curtain should hide the hook.

Step 5: Wrap the tieback around the curtain.

The tieback can fit onto the hook if it is wrapped around the curtain.

Step 6: For a feminine look, tie your curtains with a strand of pearls.

A strand of pearls can look pretty and elegant when used with pink or ivory curtains.

Step 7: You can loop rope around your curtains.

A sun bleached piece of rope is the perfect way to top off a seaworthy room design. This look is great for a child's room or a beachy living area.

Step 8: Attach ribbons to a brooch

An upscale look to a window treatment can be achieved with a pretty jeweled brooch. You can use tiaras or cuff bracelets to add sparkle to your curtains. If you have 2 similar brooches or if you only need to tie your curtains to one side, this method will work best.

Step 9: You can get a bohemian look by securing your curtains.

It's possible to add a bohemian look to your curtains with sheer scarves. The style works best with floaty curtains. It's possible to add a funky rock-n-roll vibe to your window treatment with fringe scarves.

Step 10: If you want to inject holiday or seasonal spirit into your decor, switch out tiebacks.

Use festive fabric, scarves, runners, and ribbons to tie your curtains. They can be changed every season or holiday. You have a pair of white panels in your living room window. You could use a red velvet ribbon as a tieback. You can celebrate Halloween with a black and orange polka dot ribbon.During the summer months, you can use a white sisal rope or nautical-themed ribbon.
