A Roku is a TV, HDMI stick or video player that can be connected to the internet. You can begin to stream content immediately after plugging in the device, connecting to your wireless network and selecting the channels you want to watch. If you're done using your Roku, you may want to turn it off or restart it.
Step 1: The devices are designed to run constantly to download updates, so there is no on/off switch.
The TV's power can be controlled by some ROKU voice remotes. It's the only way to completely turn off your Roku if you have a Streaming Player, TV or Streaming Stick.
Step 2: You can turn off the streaming player by disabling it.
If you plugged the Roku Streaming Player into your TV, then you need to remove it from the television.Plug the A/C power adapter from the Roku Player after this is done. This will turn it off.
Step 3: You can turn off the Streaming Stick by removing it from the television's HDMI port.
If your TV provides power through the HDMI port, then all you have to do is remove the stick and turn it off.If your HDMI port does not provide power, you would have to connect a micro-USB cable to the Roku Stick and plug it into a wall outlet. If you remove the Roku Streaming Stick from the HDMI port, it will shut off completely, and you can learn more at: http://www.manualslib.com/manual/696105/Roku-Streaming-stick.html.
Step 4: Remove the TV from the wall.
You put the television into "standby mode" when you use the remote to turn it off.Plugging the cord from the outlet is the only way to turn off the TV.The TV should be off once this is done.
Step 5: Plug the device back in if you want to restart it.
If it's malfunctioning, you may want to restart it.The screen should go blank after you scroll up.The restart will signify a successful one.
Step 6: If you want to restart, use the Roku remote.
To do this, hold the remote and press the Home button five times in a row.The Fast forward button should be pressed two times.
Step 7: From the main menu, restart Roku.
You should have Roku 6.0 if you've kept it plugged in and updated. You can restart the program from the main menu with the version that you have.Go to settings, system, and then restart. The system should restart if you select the restart button.
Step 8: If you have a Roku TV, Streaming Stick or Player, you can put it into Standby Mode by holding down the power button.
If you want to keep using your Roku, hold the power button down for a second time.
Step 9: If you don't use your device for an extended period of time, it will go into Standby mode to conserve energy.
If you can't manually make your Roku go into Standby mode, you will eventually be able to.
