Most major wireless service providers now allow their customers to use their unlocked phones on other networks. The phones are locked to the network for 60 days from purchase. If your phone has not been reported as lost or stolen, it will be unlocked after 60 days. You can learn how tounlock your phone.
Step 1: It's been 60 days since you bought your phone.
Your phone will be unlocked 60 days after the date of purchase if you bought it after July 2019.For both pre- and post-paid plans, this is true.Even if you are not current on your account, you will not be locked out of your phone. If you purchased a "4G Phone-in-a-Box" from an authorized retailer, you should check the back of the box to see if there is a different unlock period. If you bought your phone before July, it may still be unlocked. If it isn't, you'll need to contact the company to get it unlocked for you. This method can be used if you have an older 3G World or Global Ready phone.
Step 2: Your phone has a sim card.
To use your new mobile provider's network, you will need a sim card.Once you have a new non-Verizon phone, take your old one and put it in the new one. When you switch the phone back on, it will connect to your new provider's network. If you want to make sure your phone is compatible with their network, you should check their website for a "Bring Your Own Device" page.
Step 3: If you don't have an unlocked phone, contact the company.
If you get a message saying "SIM Not Supported" after you insert the new sim, your phone is not unlocked. It might be because it's been less than 60 days since purchase, or that your phone was flagged as lost or stolen. If you want to unlock your phone, you'll have to call customer support or dial from the phone.
Step 4: The sim card from another wireless carrier should be inserted into your phone.
If you have an older 3G World phone, you can use a special code to get it unlocked. The first thing to do is to power your phone down and remove the sim from it.Once the new phone is installed, turn it off.If you want to make sure your phone is compatible with their network, check their website for a "Bring Your Own Device" page.
Step 5: You can enter either "000000" or "123456" at the prompt.
You will be prompted to enter a code when you start your phone back up.One of the universal codes will open your phone. After your phone is unlocked, you can use it on any compatible wireless network. If you can't get your phone unlocked this way, you should contact the support of the carrier.
