How To Use Dowsing or Divining Rods

Before technology allowed us to see into the ground, people depended on dowsing to find water wells, metals, gemstones, and even missing people.Dowsing has never been proven to work in a controlled setting, but it is still popular in many parts of the world.Dowsing or divining can be done by learning how to hold the rods. You can use the rods to find water, locate lost objects, or determine the energy of a room.

Step 1: Dowsing or divining rods can be found here.

Natural items can be used as divining rods. Many diviners use sticks from trees such as willow, peach, and witch hazel.Look for a stick with branches on either side of the fork.If you don't want to use a stick, you can use coat hanger, two wire rods, or a pendulum as a dowsing rod.If you have two pieces of wire that are the same length, you should have at least one to two feet of them. For dowsing from New Age stores or online, you can use two wire rods of equal length. Some divining rods have L-shapes on each end, where the wire extends downward. At New Age stores, you can find L-shaped rods.

Step 2: Take the rods away from your body.

You should hold the rods in each hand away from your body. The butt of the handles should rest in the heel of your hands if you position the rods so they rest flat over your fingers. The rods need to float freely, so don't hold the handles tightly. The rods should be held 9 inches apart so they don't cross or collide. You may want to hold the rods in your hands a few times to get used to it.If you are using a single fork stick, you should keep it away from your body.If you hold the stick lightly, it will float in your hand.

Step 3: As you walk, keep the rods straight and steady.

You should practice walking and moving around while holding the rods once you understand how to do it.The rods should be parallel to the ground if you keep them straight as you walk.Walk slowly across the room after holding the rods at arm's length. You don't want to move the rods unintentionally with the force of your body or your arms, so do not let the rod end tip upward or downward as you move.

Step 4: The rods should be held in your hands.

Start by holding the dowsing or divining rods straight in your hands.Don't tip the rod ends upward or downward. The rods should be 9 inches from each other. The angle at which the Y shaped rod should be pointed is 45 degrees. This will make it easier for you to get a good read of the area.

Step 5: You can walk over the area with the rods.

Water dowsers are often called to locate water in a rural or suburban area. You should hold the rods and walk slowly over the area you are testing for water. If you hold the rods lightly with some grip, they won't roll or shift in your hands as you walk.

Step 6: Wait for the rods to move.

The butt end of the stick should be pulled downward if the rods detect water. There may be water under the surface if the rods cross over each other in a certain spot.As you walk over the area with the rods, you may be able to see the water under the earth. You can picture a body of water in your mind as you hold the rod to let the rods know what you are looking for.

Step 7: Relax and look at the lost object.

Dowsing rods can be used to locate lost items. You need to hold the rods in your hands.Relax and close your eyes. You have lost an object in your mind. You may want to take a few deep breaths. You can channel your focus into the divining rods if you focus on the lost object.

Step 8: The rods will lead you to the object.

You can ask the rods out loud.If you say, "Where is the object I have lost," you will project your intent onto the rods.

Step 9: The rods should point you to the object.

You should hold the rods straight in your hands.Don't resist the pulls or tugs on the rods. You should walk in the direction the rods lead you.The rods could lead you to the lost object.

Step 10: Look at the energy in the room.

The amount of positive and negative energy in a room can be tested with divining rods. You can test the energy levels in your home, office, or garden. You can enter the room holding the rods.Try to see the Chi energy in the room by closing your eyes.It is possible to picture an energy path throughout the room.If you can't do this, the rods will help you determine the path. You can use the divining rods to trace the flow of Chi.The "Chi" can flow more freely if you make adjustments to the set up of the room or space. This could make the space feel better.A room with good energy will have a lot of Chi in it.

Step 11: The rods will lead you to the energy path.

You can do this either way. This will allow you to communicate your intent to the rods, if you say, "Can you show me the energy path in this room?"

Step 12: The rods will lead you to the areas.

Follow any pulls or tugs on the rod.To determine the energy flow of the room, you should walk in every part of it.The rods can help you figure out where the Chi is flowing well in the room and where it isn't.If you notice that you are walking in circles, you can move the rods in your hands and repeat your intention to them again. The rods should create a path through the room. The flow of energy may be improved by moving furniture or items in the area.
