Over 50% of all internet traffic isTorrents, one of the most popular forms of file sharing on the internet. They can be intimidating for newcomers. You can start sharing files in a few minutes if you get into the torrent scene.See Step 1 to learn how.
Step 1: Understand how torrents work.
You can download virtually any type of file from everyone else. The files can be split into many small pieces.Users who already have that chunk on their computer download the chunks. The reconstructed file is ready to use on your computer once all of the pieces are downloaded. You are aleecher when you download torrent content. You are a seeder when you share content.More terminology will be used later.Read about the law.A lot of what is shared is not legal.Don't be one of them. You have the right to share material.
Step 2: You can download a torrent client.
A torrent client is used to manage torrent downloads. It's required to download a torrent. You need to download your torrent client from a reliable source. There are many clients to choose from, but some are more popular than others.
Step 3: The client needs to be installed.
During the installation of your torrent client, be careful. Many clients come bundled with hijackers that need to be manually deselected during the installation process.
Step 4: You can find a tracker site.
There are listings of torrent files on torrent trackers. The trackers act as a repository for torrent files and don't actually host any content on their server. There are two types of tracker: public and private.Public trackers are open to everyone and can be found with a quick search. They don't have to register or have sharing requirements. There are a lot of advertisements on public trackers.Downloads of torrents can result in action from your internet service provider because they are tracked by copyright holders.Private trackers can't be found through searches on the internet.Signing up for an account is required, and your file sharing ratio is monitored to make sure you are not seeding too much.
Step 5: You can search for the file you want.
You can find the file you want to download with the search function on the torrent tracker.A list of results will be returned by the tracker. If the file is popular, there will be several results to choose from. You can use popular shorthand to find the file you want.If you need the fifth episode from the fourth season of a show, search for "show name> s04e05".The advertisements at the top of your search results are designed to look like legitimate results.
Step 6: Determine which file to download.
You have to decide which one to choose when there are multiple results for the file. When choosing a result, there are a couple factors to consider. There will be differing quality between files if you download a video.Larger files will be better than smaller ones. The quality of the file can be checked by looking at the Comments on the torrent.torrents allow users to rate themThe quicker you can download a file, the more seeders it has. When you download the chunks of the file, there will be more people to talk to.You might be waiting a while for the file to finish if there are more leechers than seeders. The number of seeders is listed next to each search result. You can sort by the number of seeds.
Step 7: You should be able to run the content.
This is important for video files because they are often not supported by Windows Media Player or QuickTime. To make sure you can watch any video you download, install a specialized video player.torrent files are usually in ISO format. They need to be burned or mounted in a virtual drive in order to run them.
Step 8: When selecting a file, be careful.
There are many ways to transmit viruses and other files.A file with a lot of seeders is more likely to be safe. The Comments section will show you bad torrents.
Step 9: You can download the torrent.
If you want to download the torrent to your computer, click the download link on the tracker. The torrent file is very small and should only take a second to download. The torrent file is only used as a way to connect with other people sharing it.
Step 10: You can open the torrent file.
When you open a torrent file, Windows will start your torrent client. If you don't have a torrent client, you can use the client to open the file. When the torrent is loaded, you will be asked where to save the file if you didn't set a download location. You will not be able to start the download process if you don't have enough free space.
Step 11: Wait for the download to begin.
Your torrent client will connect to seeders after a few moments. The progress bar will start creeping towards 100% when your download speed increases.Your maximum download speed will be split between all active transfers if you download multiple torrents at the same time.
Step 12: You should keep sharing after your file is finished.
The community sharing files is what makes torrenting possible. If there are no seeders with the entire file, it will die. After they have downloaded the files, every torrent user should share them. Most internet service plans have slower upload speeds. If you want to maintain a 3:1 ratio of leech to seed, you need to keep your tracker open longer.Leaving your Torrent client running in the background is a good way to do this. You will lose the ability to seed if you move or deleted the files.
Step 13: The limit should be set.
You can set a limit on the torrent that it will seed to.Under the queueing section is where this option is typically found.A minimum ratio should be set. This is the minimum that your torrents will seed to after the download is finished.Set it to 100%.If you downloaded a 300MB file, you would have to wait until you sent it.The speed limit should be set to 0.
Step 14: There is a seed for private tracker.
There are strict seeding requirements for private trackers. They usually want you to seed at least 100% of what you share. If you don't maintain this ratio, you will lose access to the tracker and your account will be banned.
Step 15: You can open your torrent client.
You can also use your torrent client to create torrent files. There are many ways to share files with friends, family, or your enthusiast community. The creator of the torrent is more likely to be prosecuted than the people that download it.
Step 16: The torrent file can be created.
The process varies slightly depending on the client, but you can generally click File and select "create new torrent" or something similar. The torrent creation tool will be opened by this.
Step 17: You should add your files.
There can be one or many files in a torrent. If you want to add files to the torrent, use the "Add File" and " Add Directory" buttons. You can share almost any type of file.
Step 18: Add people to the tracker.
The "Trackers" field can be found in the torrent properties section. You can share your torrent on multiple trackers by entering your tracker addresses. If you are using a private tracker, you will need to manually add it to your torrent clients.
Step 19: Start seeding.
The torrent will start seeding when you click the create button.Make sure you keep seeding until other people grab the file.Your torrent will die if you stop seeding before anyone is able to download.
