You can learn how to find and interpret your iPad's model number and software version.
Step 1: Understand how models work.
There are two different versions of the iPad, one that only supports wi-fi and the other that supports cellular data.One iPad type can have different model numbers applied to it.An iPad Air with cellular is the same size as an equivalent iPad air with wi-fi only, according to the model number.
Step 2: If your iPad has a case, remove it.
The bottom of the iPad's housing is where the model number is located, so anything covering this area must be removed.
Step 3: Look for the model number.
The model number is next to the top line of text at the bottom of the iPad.There will be a format for your model number.

Step 5: The iPad's model number can be used to inform hardware decisions.
Knowing the model number will help you determine the size or type of the item.
Step 6: You can open your iPad's settings.

Step 7: There is a Tap General.
The left side of the page has a tab on it.
Step 8: You can tap about it.
It is at the top of the page.
Step 9: There is a version number.
