It's a good idea to set a password for your computer.Some people are still trying to guess the password for your computer.Windows can log login attempts so that you can see if anyone tried to log into your computer.You need to setup it to work, but once it's done, you don't have to do it again.You will learn how to set up logging and view the logs once you do.
Step 1: There is an open event viewer.
Click OK if you type eventvwr into the "Run" box.
Step 2: Click on "custom views".
Step 3: Select to create a custom view.
The panel goes to the right of the window.
Step 4: Next to the "Event Logs" text-box is a drop-down arrow.
Step 5: The "Windows Logs" option can be expanded.
Step 6: Next to "Security" is a check box.
Step 7: "All event IDs" is prefilled in the text box.
Once you select it, the prefilled text will disappear.
Step 8: The event ID is what you should type in.
There are 3 different types of events that you can view.You can see successful and failed logins.The IDs for each are listed.There was a failure with the login.Log off.
Step 9: Click OK if you don't want to.
Step 10: A description is needed for the Custom View.
You need to enter a description of what it is in the name of it.Click OK after that.If you don't want anyone else on the computer to see this view, you can uncheck the "All users" option.
Step 11: For each view that you want to create, repeat these steps.
You can skip creating a new custom view if you only want to review some events.
Step 12: There is an open event viewer.
Click OK if you want to type eventvwr into the "Run" box.
Step 13: You can expand the "Custom Views" folder.
Step 14: You can click on the logs to view them.
You can review the logs to see if anyone tried to hack your computer.
Step 15: More than just logging in will be recorded for successful logins.
Logins from system services will be recorded.To find out if it was a human logging in or a service, look at the "Login Type" value in the details pane.If the login type number is a 2, then it was a human logging in, but if it is any other number, it's a system service.
