Bringing home a live Christmas tree is a big deal, and the last thing you need is dried pine needles all over your floor.Christmas trees need a lot of water. If you have a stand that holds a lot of water, you can refill it every day.Keeping water in the stand is easy with a Christmas tree watering system.During the holiday season, add a little green to your home by taking care of your tree.
Step 1: Place the tree in a bucket of warm water.
Keep the tree in a bucket if you need to store it for a few days.Keep the cut end of the trunk submerged, you don't need to do anything else. The water level should be checked daily to make sure the tree has what it needs. The tree should be kept in a shaded area to prevent it from drying out.
Step 2: Remove 2 in from the bottom of the tree.
If your tree has been out of water for 6 to 8 hours, you need to do this.Straight across the end of the tree.If you want to take more off the tree, cut less than 2 in.Trees cover their cuts.Once the cut is covered, the tree can't absorb much water. This could be the cause of your tree drying out.Pre-cut trees need to be cut again. If you live within 3 hours of the place, ask the dealer to cut the tree for you.
Step 3: Measure your tree stand to make sure it fits.
If you already have a stand, make sure it's large enough to hold a tree. There are metal components in some stands that prevent wider tree trunks from fitting securely in place. The tree might not be able to reach the water inside the stand if it doesn't fit.It is not recommended to shave a tree's trunk with a saw to fit a stand. It is worth trying if you have no other options.
Step 4: For the tree's size, choose a deep stand that holds enough water.
A Christmas tree needs at least 4 cups of water for every 2.5 cm of it's diameter.A tree needs about 16 cups of water per day.Make sure your stand is deep enough to hold the water you need.Measure the stands carefully before using them because they aren't deep enough for a tree. When choosing a tree, take into account the amount of water the tree needs.
Step 5: The stand should be filled with plenty of water.
To get to the stand, lift up the tree's branches.Water can be added to the stand with a bucket, cup or similar object. The water in the stand is enough for the tree to grow, but make sure the water level is high above the trunk. The water temperature is not important. It's the same as Christmas trees: cold, warm, and hot.It is possible to avoid having to fight through many branches by using a funnel. If you glue a few pipes together, set a funnel on top.
Step 6: Substances shouldn't be added to the tree's water.
Water Additives are not necessary for some people. The Christmas tree doesn't need a lot of water.Water-holding gels and flame- resistant chemicals may prevent the tree from absorbing water.Adding sugar to water is one of the many home remedies. They are not proven to help so you don't need to spend more money on them.A good Christmas tree can last a month or more.
Step 7: The water should be checked daily and the stand filled as needed.
In the first week, the tree will need a lot of water. You should always look into the stand. The trunk has water on it.Fresh water is needed to fill the stand up.If you don't keep the water level above the cut portion of the tree, it will dry out.
Step 8: If they feel dry, touch the needles.
evergreen needles leave a mess around a dried out tree. You have to run your hand against the needles.needles will fall off the branches. These needles feel dry to the touch. If your tree isn't absorbing enough water, dried needles are a sign.If there is a problem with the water level in the stand, consider cutting the tree's bottom off.Remove the tree from the house if it is dry and not improving.
Step 9: It's a good idea to use a humidifier.
A room humidifier can be used to compliment regular watering.Put the humidifier in the same room as the tree.It will prevent the tree's needles from drying out.A humidifier is not a substitute for regular watering. You still need to refill the stand, even though it helps provide water to the tree.
Step 10: Move the tree away from heat sources.
The water in the stand and the tree's branches will be dried out by various heat sources in your home.Keep the tree away from the sun and fans as much as possible.Dry trees are a fire risk.Remember to check the water level in the stand on occasion, and position your tree with caution.
Step 11: Keep the tree cool by turning off the lights in the room.
The tree decorations on the branches are a bigger concern than other light sources in a room. The tree uses up water and dries out faster when the lights distribute a lot of heat.Light usage should be limited to preserve water.Get newer lights. They emit less heat and use less electricity.Turn off the lights when you aren't at home to prevent the tree from drying out.
