How to Weld, Trim and Combine objects is a part of the CorelDRAW help.
The Trimming creates irregularly shaped objects by removing object areas that overlap. You can trim almost any object, including clones, objects on different layers, and single objects with intersecting lines.Paragraph text, dimensions lines, and masters of clones cannot be trimmed.
You have to decide which object you want to trim, the target object or the source object. If you want to make a star-shaped cut out of a square object, the star is the source object because you are using it to trim the square. The object you want to trim is the square. The target object is trimmed by the source object.
The object's fill and outline attributes are retained. An irregular shape can be created if the area that was covered by the circle is removed.
You can trim objects in a variety of ways. The back object can be used to trim a front object.Hidden areas can be removed so that only the visible areas remain in the drawing. The hidden areas can be removed to reduce file size.
Reducing the number of objects in a drawing can be done with trimming. The areas shown on the left are trimmed to reveal the black background, instead of adding eyes and spots to the bug.
