You can use a money box to store savings, accept donations for special occasions, or keep spare change in the house.A good crafts project for kids can be made with a money box.
Step 1: There is a coin slot.
Use your largest piece of currency (eg, quarter, half-dollar, etc.) when taking the lid off the shoebox.Draw a rectangular coin slot wide enough for it to fit.
Step 2: The coin slot needs to be removed.
The coin slot can be made using a craft knife, which will leave a ragged edge.An adult should do this part if a child will be doing it.
Step 3: Take the dimensions of the box.
To fit the box, you will need to cut out pieces of paper or fabric.Measure the height, width, and length of the shoebox using a ruler.Take the measurements and write them down.Measure the length and width of the lid using a ruler.Add the height of the lip to the measurement of length and width.Take the measurements and write them down.
Step 4: Take out the paper or fabric.
The paper or fabric should be upside down.The dimensions of the four sides and the lid are outlined using a ruler.
Step 5: The coin slot can be cut into fabric or paper.
The lid should be set on a flat surface after you glue the paper or fabric to it.To cut out the paper covering the coin slot, use a craft knife.An adult should do this part if a child will be doing it.
Step 6: The paper needs to be decorated.
Begin decorating the pieces of paper with which you will cover the box.Add drawings or writing.Glue on the decorations you want.Line the coin slot with a ribbon if it looks ragged.Wait for the glue to dry so the decorations are in place.
Step 7: Attach the paper or fabric with glue.
Put a thin layer of glue on the back of the cutout.Place it against the box.Use the additional allowance to drape over the sides of the lid when you glue the paper or fabric to it.Wait for the glue to dry.If you want to use your money box, replace the lid.
Step 8: There is a plastic container with a lid.
A can of nuts is a good example of a container that includes a plastic lid.The container should be emptied.You should wash and dry the inside.
Step 9: Remove the lid and place it on a cutting surface.
Make sure the lid is resting against the surface for stability.
Step 10: There is a hole in the lid.
The best way to cut a hole for a coin slot is to use a craft knife or pocket knife.The craft knife is quite sharp, so be careful with it.If a child is doing the project, perform this step for them.
Step 11: You can test the coin slot.
To make sure the slot is big enough, use the same coin to test it.If the slot is too small, use a craft knife to trim the edges.
Step 12: Measure the container.
Measure the container so you can wrap it with the right amount of paper or fabric.Write down the measurement and add one or two centimeters for overlap allowance.Write down the height of the container.
Step 13: The container can be wrapped with either paper or fabric.
This will turn your can into a personalized money box.You can choose a piece of paper or fabric large enough to wrap around the container.Place the paper or fabric on the cutting surface.
Step 14: Take a look at the dimensions of the container.
You can use the height and circumference measurements to draw a rectangle of the same height using a ruler.The width of the rectangle can be used with the additional centimeter or two.

When you are done writing or drawing, flip the fabric or paper upside down.Put a thin layer of glue on the backside.Wrap the paper or fabric around the container slowly, smoothing it with your hand as you go.If a small strip of the container is visible and the paper or fabric doesn't overlap, cover it with a ribbon, colored paper, or another decoration.
Step 18: Add any more decorations.
Add any additional decorations after the paper or fabric is secure.You can add decorations at this stage.If the decoration is heavy, use hot glue.
Step 19: The container needs to be placed on the lid.
The container should have a coin slot on it.The money box will be ready when the glue is dry.
Step 20: You can use the gift boxes you choose.
Gift boxes are a nicer option for money box material and can be used for a wedding box in which guests can put checks, money, cards, etc.There is a wedding reception.This design is similar to a tiered wedding cake or a stack of gifts.You can choose from three gift boxes.The boxes you choose can be either round or square.In order to create a stack, the boxes should be in descending size.
Step 21: The middle box has a slot in it's side or lid.
The middle box is larger than the top box for people to see.The placement of the slot depends on how you're decorating the box and what you think will be more visually pleasing.If you want to trace out a shape on the lid or side of the middle box, use a ruler and marker.The rectangle should be large enough to hold long envelopes.Cut out a shape.To create an envelope slot, cut out the rectangle shape with a craft knife.Scissors will leave ragged edges if you use a craft knife.
Step 22: Put the dimensions of the boxes together.
Measure the length and width of the gift box using a ruler.Take the dimensions and write them down.
Step 23: To fit over the sides of the boxes, cut decorative paper or fabric.
Lay the paper upside down on the flat surface.Take the dimensions of each side of the box and put them on the paper or fabric.The outlines should be labeled so you know which box they are in.
Step 24: The boxes should have fabric or paper on them.
Attach the cutout to the box with a thin layer of glue.Cut away the paper or fabric covering the envelope slot with a craft knife when the glue has dried.If the slot has ragged edges, cover them with ribbon.
Step 25: The wedding box needs to be decorated.
Use ribbon, lace, and other items.The final touches on the box are something you like to do.A simple message such as "Thank You" or "Kaitlin and Rob, 2015," can be added to the money slot.
Step 26: The money box stack needs to be assembled.
Place the largest box at the base, then place the next largest on top.Put them in place with glue.You can tie a wide, quality ribbon around the entire stack, finishing it with a large bow on the top box to make it look like a stack of gifts.The wedding box should be placed on the table.The money gift can be discreetly dropped into the money box.
