It is possible to ride jet skis in the summertime.Next summer will be fun if you winterize your jet ski properly. If you don't, your jet ski may become damaged and fail to run.You can winterize your jet ski by draining, cleaning, filling, lubricating, and storing it correctly.
Step 1: Take your jet ski out of the water.
Get your jet ski out of the water as soon as possible when you're done with the ride.Slowly back your vehicle down the ramp until most of the trailer is submerged.Attach your jet ski to the trailer by driving it up onto it.You should get back into your vehicle and drive forward to get the jet ski out of the water. If possible, have a friend help you with this so that one of you can drive the vehicle and the other can ride the jet ski.
Step 2: Reposition the jet ski.
The bow needs to be higher than the stern of the jet ski so it can be drained. The back of the jet ski should be lower than the front.
Step 3: The water should be drained by turning the throttle back and forth.
If you want to alternate between moving the throttle back and forth, turn the jet ski on.In 30 second intervals, do this.Continue until water is no longer being expelled from the jet ski.
Step 4: Put water and antifreeze in a bucket.
Only RV antifreeze can be used.It is not harmful to the environment.Don't use regular automotive antifreeze. While the jet ski is stored, the fluids in the exhaust system will not freeze. One gallon of RV antifreeze and onegallon of water should be put in a bucket.
Step 5: The mixture must be flushed through the exhaust system.
While keeping the other end submerged in the antifreeze mixture, hook a hose or water pump up to the flush outlet.Once the entire mixture has passed through the exhaust system, turn the engine on and off.
Step 6: Use car safe soap to wash the exterior.
Add a few squirts of car safe soap to a bucket of warm water. The exterior of your jet ski can be wiped down with a scratch-free cloth. The bottom of the jet ski has a lot of gunk on it.Do not use dishwashing liquid or hand soap.
Step 7: You need to wash and dry your jet ski.
Remove your jet ski from the water. You can either use a hose or dump buckets of water onto the jet ski.Allow the jet ski air to dry completely. If you want to buff and shine your jet ski, you can use a high-shine protectant car wax.
Step 8: You should put stabilizer in your gas tank.
You can add fuel stabilizer to your gas tank by getting a bottle of it.This will prevent fuel contamination and will also keep fuel injection system and gas lines clean.
Step 9: Put gas in your tank.
Top off your gas tank with premium gas after you put the stabilizer in.condensation can form on the inside of the gas tank.
Step 10: Make sure your jet ski's moving parts are Lubricated.
It's a good idea to spray the areas of your jet ski that are rotating and turning. The steering nozzle pivot points, the reverse mechanisms, and the brake mechanisms are included. It's a good idea to spray the engine and electrical components to get rid of any water.
Step 11: The battery should be removed.
It is necessary to remove the battery from your jet ski in order to charge it.The negative and positive terminal should be disconnected first.
Step 12: The battery needs to be charged.
Attach the battery to a power source. It's a good idea to do this on a secure surface. The battery should be charged in a location where the temperature won't fall below freezing.
Step 13: You can store your jet ski in a garage.
It's best to store your jet ski on its trailer in a garage, but you can also store it elsewhere.Blocks of wood should be put underneath the tires to prevent dry rot.Since it's full of gas, keep your jet ski out of harms way.
Step 14: You should cover your jet ski.
If you want to keep your jet ski protected, cover it with a tarp.Rats can get inside the jet ski if the exhaust outlets and air intakes are plugged. It's important to protect the jet ski a little more if you store it in a shed, barn, or outside. It should be covered with a second tarp or cover.
