But...Why?The answer is simple.During working hours, the owners banned the consumption of alcohol.The drink was considered a feminine drink.The workers were inventive.They used brown sugar to make lemonade look feminine and used it as a mixer for their spirits.And thus, brown lemonade was born!
Brown lemonade is not used as a mixer for spirits these days.
I bet the song "Milk, milk, lemonade... round the corner chocolate's made" has an extra line about brown lemonade.
