What type of grout do you use for fireplace?
Installers usually recommend thin set mortar and a narrow grout joint. Daltile recommends using non-sand and non-acid grout for the fireplace. MAPEI Kerapoxy Design is recommended for best results.
Is Mapei tile adhesive heat resistant?
For rigid seals in voids and joints between materials that come into direct contact with flames or need to withstand temperatures up to 1200°C. Suitable for industrial furnaces, wood burning ovens, barbeques, chimney flues and fireplaces.
What is best for grouting?
Sanded grout is best for grout lines ranging from 1/8-inch to 1/2-inch. Grout lines wider than 1/2-inch are impractical and will crack and become unstable. Because unsanded grout can also be used for 1/8-inch lines, between the two it is recommended that you use sanded grout.2021-11-05
How heat resistant is grout?
HEAT RESISTANT: Vitcas white grout is heat resistant in nature, it can tolerate up to 1000oC. You can use it at high heat generating places and be rest assured of burning. CONSIDERATIONS: Please do not grout immediately after fixing the tiles, you should allow few days for tile adhesive to set properly before grouting.

Since the grout of a hearth faces constant heat and even the occasional touch of a flame, you must use a grout that can hold up under the temperatures. Grouts labeled "heat-resistant" are made specifically for this purpose.
Does heat affect grout?
