Animals need daylight in the day and dark at night.I recommend the under tank heat pad.
I don't have a UV lighting fixture for my leopard geckos, but they are thriving and could be tremendous with a kin individuals bulb.They get theri daylight hours from being close to the house windows.The only thing I have on their enclosures is a ceramic warmth emmittor.
Leopard geckos don't need a special UVB light to be active at night.The temperature needs to be 86-90 degrees all the time.
